The chapter in which the magic first began, creating the Lantern Walk story with for ✨

It’s been an honor to photograph Jules through the years and to now see those photos brought together in the pages of her book makes the entire journey into something wholly new and lovely.

As I began to turn the pages of the book my mind wandered through all of the moments and conversations, the thresholds I have witnessed Julesy walk through. She lives in and cultivates most every inch of her home and uses it, really uses it, to make the beautiful living artwork that is her family and her healing work. Each room I have photographed Jules in holds a different conversation, a different aspect of her life. As I thought about sharing some of the images we made together, I found myself drawn to start here, in her bedroom. So often Jules is advocating for another with her work in the kitchen or at the fire, but here in these moments, I remember her speaking only of her soft and delicate heart ♥️

For as long as I can remember, I have loved the way her face lights up at the very mention of your name. I doubly love how the children haven’t missed a beat in seeing you through those same loving eyes.

Family is a wonderful, wonderful thing and I am endlessly grateful we belong to each other the way we do. We miss you already darling cousin 💛

John, Lauren and their third baby, sweet baby-baby Trey 💫

When I was learning Faith, the way she sang worship was like the sweetest Love song I had ever heard and broke down all the walls around my mind and heart and ministered straight to my weary spirit.

When I was learning Hope and no-one knew I had $5 in the bank on Christmas Eve, she showed up on our doorstep with Christmas gifts for all the children to put under the tree - and - a secret bag of little treasures to also fill their stockings.

When I was learning Love she prayed for me, she shared my story with others who I didn’t know who also prayed for us and who every now and then will meet us years later and hug us like a beloved child, because they have been praying for us for years. So it is that somehow this woman who flies rockets to the stars for her day job gazed upon us and let us know we too were worthy of Love and that Love would change our world.

As with all the families who have blessed us through the years it is hard to put into words what they have done for us. But if there is one thing I know my favorite rocket scientist would want me to do in return is to share, dear friends keep your eyes on the Heavens. When all feels lost or beyond repair keep your eyes on the Heavens for it is where your help comes from 💫
