Our mission is to nurture our community and its young people by creating, learning, and presenting art to advance equity and social justice. Join us for the celebration of our new exhibition, 'From the Ground Up: Nurturing Diversity in Hostile Environments' on Sunday, September 8!

Join us at 1 PM for a walkthrough with curator, Irene Georgia Tsatsos, followed by a tarot reading by artist Enid Baxter Ryce and her family at 2. Ending the afternoon will be an amaranth seed sharing and blessing at 3 PM, where we’ll harvest amaranth and practice a Campesino a Campesino (Farmer to Farmer) philosophy of reciprocal action with Cristóbal Osorio Sánchez, founder of Qachuu Aloom Asociación Madre Tierra; Maria Aurelia Xitumul Ivoy; Vasquez Chun; and Sabrina Sosof from Guatemala, along with Indigenous Permaculture and the Garden's Edge.

Fall Art Classes in Pasadena Enrolling Now 08/15/2024

Fall art classes for adults, kids, teens, and families are now enrolling in letterpress, ceramics, street art, darkroom photo, life drawing, Risograph, stop motion animation, painting, printmaking, fabric arts, and much more! All classes are designed and led by our fabulous Teaching Artists — compassionate educators and accomplished artists who help students of all skill levels develop their unique voices. No prior experience is necessary. With roots going back to 1947, Pasadena's Armory Center for the Arts is a nonprofit organization and a nationally recognized innovator for community-based art education. Fall Studio session begins September 16.

Attention all high school students! Our End of Summer Celebration is this Sunday, August 18 from 10 AM to 2 PM! We're welcoming teens, ages 13 to 18, for a special art celebration for currently enrolled high school students, those starting high school in the fall, and those who just graduated this spring. JJoin us for a free day of artmaking with our Teaching Artists, including block printing with Rachel Curry, fabric cyanotypes with Joe Bruns, and screenprinting with Sergio Hernandez.

Invite your friends! RSVPs are required and can be done at armoryarts.org/end-of-summer-celebration-for-high-school-students.
All materials are included for this free event, but there are only 30 spaces available.

Thank you so much for creating our gorgeous flier! 🍂🍁🌿 Rachel made the flier using the Armory studios. She scanned real leaves directly on the Risograph to create the background, then used wood type in our Letterpress Lab for the title of the event.

Come plant amaranth with us this Saturday! Join the Armory for our Communal Amaranth Planning on Saturday, August 10 from 10 AM to 12 PM where we will be guided by friends from Indigenous Permaculture and gardeners from Milagro Allegro Community Garden. A decade ago, Qachuu Aloom gifted seeds to gardeners at Milagro Allegro Community Garden, and the farmers returned each year to plant and harvest amaranth. We're looking forward to continuing to connect over the seed. Bring your gardening equipment!

Maral’s sonic palette incorporates a collage of Iranian Classical & Folk samples and explores genres of experimental electronic production such as noise, punk/post-punk, and dub. Maral has released two critically acclaimed records, Ground Groove (2022) and Push (2020), on Leaving Records. She has collaborated with artists such as Lee "Scratch" Perry, Panda Bear, Penny Rimbaud of Crass, Anika, and more.
This event is coordinated by our 2024 Getty MUI Interns Tania Ordoñez and Han Kim.
