Today marks the beginning of Hunger Action Month and tonight the Murray Baker Bridge is illuminated in ORANGE to raise awareness about food insecurity in our local area. Follow along this September as we highlight how the local food system operates and discover ways for you to contribute and make an impact!

Sophia's Kitchen is closed Friday - Food Pantry will be held today! Join us from 1 PM to 3 PM Friday at 105 N Richard Pryor Place for a PRE-PACKED food pantry. All are welcome - no requirements.
• Line up is OUTSIDE. No one will be allowed to wait in the lobby. Dress for the weather.
• If there is severe weather, bags will be prepacked to speed up distribution.
• At 12:45, numbers will be given. Do not line up before noon.
• Guests will be called in beginning at 1 PM according to number.
• No one will have early entry.

Below are some locations of Cooling Centers in Peoria. Additional help can be accessed by calling HOI 211 (309-999-4029) 24/7

*All Peoria Fire Department Fire Stations are open to the public from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., every day of the week, but those seeking help go to any Fire Station at any time. It’s important to note that if the crew is sent on a call, anyone using the station as a cooling center will have to temporarily leave during that time. *Pathway Ministries-Men's Residential Center (601 SW Adams St) can be used as a cooling center 24/7 for single men, as well as during the day for anyone.

*Pathway Ministries-Women's Residential Center (6847 N. Allen Road, Peoria) can be used as a 24/7 cooling center for single women. If women with children show up, arrangements will be made to get them to the Dream Center.

*The Dream Center (714 Hamilton Blvd, Peoria) serves as a 24/7 cooling center for its eligible populations (the only population the Dream Center does not focus on is single men--men who do not currently have a child or a significant other with them, or are not otherwise part of a family unit).

Installation of the flooring begins Monday evening. Work will happen at night, after our serve hours, to allow Sophia's Kitchen to stay open while this major project is being done. We plan for the project to take 2 weeks to fully complete. Lunches will be served as usual, but we may have the dining room closed for part of the time. The restroom will be available.

It's time for Spoonful 2024! This popular event benefits Sophia's Kitchen, helping feed the thousands who come seeking food each month. This two part fundraiser begins with a paint party! Join our guest artist Molly as you paint two bowls for $30. Keep one bowl for yourself and donate the second one for Sophia's Kitchen to sell at our Spoonful Fundraiser on October 27.
