Our Story
Char-Em United Way fights for the Health, Education, and Financial Stability of every person in our communities. We improve lives in lasting and impactful ways by mobilizing the caring power of Counties. We united the people and resources of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties to build strong communities where everyone achieves their fullest potential.
Char-Em United Way has been part of the community since 1943. It was created in 1995 as the merger of United Way of Emmet County, United Way of Charlevoix and East Jordan, and Boyne Area United Way. These were preceded by a number of local Community Chests.
We do this by working to find innovative solutions to complex problems. By working with the whole community, business, policy makers, social services & more we can accomplish great things.
