We are excited to return to Northern Liberties Recreation Center this December 14th for our Winter Recital! Informal and supportive for all participants, we're looking to follow the trend of our last two recitals, and have local supporters of the Rec set up tables mini-fair style!

Mark your calendars now! We know that holiday season gets full real fast!

Welcome to one of our newest teachers - Ms. Ariana! Our students have been having a BLAST with her these last few months, and we are delighted to have her!

2 Fun Facts about Ms Ariana you may miss!

1. Ariana has two dogs named Lola and Goose! 🐶🦆
2. Ariana and her family (also known as "The Warren Five") went VIRAL during quarantine in 2020. They performed live on Facebook for 75 days in a row singing songs from over 100 musicals! 🎶

Get to know more about Ms. Ariana with her bio below!

Ariana is a mezzo-soprano who feels equally at home with teaching and performing. She holds degrees from Ithaca College and Arizona State University. She has recently performed with The Glimmerglass Festival, Des Moines Metro Opera, Opera Ithaca, Light Opera of New Jersey and Opera Night Long Island. She has earned awards from singing competitions including an Encouragement Award from The Metropolitan Opera. Ariana comes from a family of music educators and has been teaching since 2016. She has taught a wide variety of students including voice, violin and piano lessons as well as K-12 chorus, orchestra and band. She even taught beginner music classes at Gymboree Play & Music to children from 0-5 years old. Ariana recently moved to Philadelphia and is delighted to be joining the faculty at New Groove. She hopes to start making music with you soon!

We had so much fun at the Fishtown Rec yesterday in our bucket drumming Groove & Grow with Mr. Lorenzo! What a delightful way to kick off the back-to-school season!

We're kicking off our Fall events at the Fishtown Rec this Wednesday!

Mr. Lorenzo will be performing some snazzy rhythms and teaching us his tricks on the Best Portable Drum Kit™️ - the bucket!

We'll be making noise and dancing to our own beats from 4:30-5:30 - can't wait to see you there!

Our last open mic at Lightbox Philly was such a hit, we're bringing it back! All past and present adult students of New Groove are welcome and encouraged to perform in this low pressure environment. Perfection not required!

We hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful Labor Day Weekend! Today we are back with our music making!

This weekend some of our teachers old, new, and returning had a fall semester kick off at Frankford Hall , and as you can see we are excited to see you all real soon!

Due to Labor Day, all New Groove lessons and classes will be CANCELED from August 31st through September 2nd. Regular music making will resume on Tuesday, September 3rd!

Our back-to-school prep is in full swing as we reset and revamp our teaching spaces! As the song says, "make new friends but keep the old." We visited our NEW location in West Philadelphia, Calvary Center ( ), and one of our OLD(er) spaces at East Passyunk Community Recreation Center to make sure these keyboards and teaching supplies are ready to go!

Our summer songwriting class at Palumbo Recreation Center may be over, but it wasn't without some FANTASTIC music making! Thank you so much for this summer Ms. Olivia! Clearly our kids had a great time.

Our teacher highlight of the month is OUT! Mr. Lorenzo is making waves this summer teaching bucket drumming at the Shissler Recreation Center and at the Old Pine Community Center !

Lorenzo is a jazz musician in the Philly area who mainly plays saxophone, but is proficient in piano, drums, and other instruments in the woodwind family. Born and raised in New Hampshire, Lorenzo moved to Philadelphia a few years ago to pursue Music Education at . He fell in love with the lively and tight knit communities in Philly and Temple, and continues to be inspired by his mentors, fellow musicians, and students. He hopes to add to the evolving music and art of Philadelphia through teaching and performing, and that through this, others can find music as fulfilling has he does.

Ms. Olivia is making waves at Palumbo Recreation Center ! Students are in their Summer Era - sketchbooks ready for the new compositions they're writing during class! We can't wait to see what they'll be filled with by the end of August!

We're back at it some more with Ms. Sophia at Northern Liberties Recreation Center ! This summer, students at Northern Liberties are learning about songwriting and what it's like to participate in a choir - covering the basics of scales and dynamics! Thank you so much Ms. Sophia!

Summer is in full swing! We're so happy to be back at Old Pine Community Center with Ms Jillian teaching a General Music class! Students had a fun time experiencing music through movement - can't wait to see what the next classes bring!

Happy 4th! We hope you're taking the time to celebrate with copious food and family!

Due to Rec Center Closures, all lessons after 6pm on WEDNESDAY JULY 3RD will be VIRTUAL!

All lessons are CANCELED on Thursday July 4th for obvious reasons.
