Sigma Alpha Mu (Theta Chapter) at the University of Pennsylvania
As a recognized member of the Interfraternity Council, our chapter continues to be a diverse, vibrant community that attracts intellectually and socially dynamic men. Respected for our innovative approach to building a strong brotherhood, our house acts as a positive force on campus as well as in the Philadelphia community.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the donation match! We were able to match over $5,000 (for a total of $10,000+) donated to these causes. We know that this is just the beginning — donating is not enough. We’re dedicated to having the uncomfortable conversations and being active allies in this struggle.
Sammy’s Theta chapter is devoted to educating, advocating, and doing our part in fighting against institutional and systemic racism — within the Penn Greek System, throughout the University of Pennsylvania, and in our daily lives.
We want other fraternities to follow suit and take action — not just from their purses but behind closed doors. In our bio (.theta) is a link to Justice in June, which provides educational resources and daily steps for active allyship. This is only the beginning and we’re dedicated to being part of the change we want to see in the world.

We stand in solidarity with our Black members and all Black Americans who are systematically marginalized by an institutionally racist and unjust system. Listen, learn, donate, and speak up.

Happy birthday to our favorite brother Elliot Bernstein. King of banter! King of the groupme! We love you!
Dear Alumni,
Homecoming is fast approaching (11/9-11/11) and the members of SAM are excited to see everyone back on campus. Whether this is your first year coming back or your 30th reunion, everyone is welcome back to see the house and old friends.
At previous homecomings and alumni weekends, there have been events at the chapter house like bringing a food cart to our parking lot or hosting a brunch in the chapter house on Saturday or Sunday morning. If you, your class or group of friends would like to sponsor any of these events, please feel free to reach out! If you have any original ideas that you would like to bring to our attention, let us know as well!
We are excited to see everyone in a few weeks.
Best,
The Brothers of SAM

Together, they donated a new sound system to the chapter (pictured) that we have used at all of our events so far. The brotherhood really appreciates the support and the speakers are top quality.
Today is the one year anniversary of the passing of our beloved brother, Nick Moya. His loss still weighs heavy on our hearts and we miss him dearly. To those that knew him, he was a bright spot in all of our lives, especially with his contagious laughter. In his memory, we were able to raise around $14,000 and donate it to the Kyle Ambrogi Foundation to help prevent another tragedy like this from occurring again.
Thank you to all those who donated, it is much appreciated.
On October 7th, many brothers from the Sigma Alpha Mu Theta Chapter will be walking in the Out of the Darkness Walk, hosted by American Foundation for Su***de Prevention. If you would like to join or donate, please use this link:

There will be an informal and inclusive memorial held in honor of Nick Moya on Penn's campus today at 4pm. It will take place near the Peace Statue near Van Pelt Library. All are welcome to attend.
While our loss is still new and we have only begun our grieving, we hope to begin our process of honoring Nick's memory in the future. On the website below, you may donate to our chapter in order to support an on-campus memorial service that will occur in the coming days and bring the chapter and university together in remembering the indescribable impact Nick had on all of our lives. These funds will also be used to organize a future event in Nick's honor that will raise money for the Kyle Ambrogi Foundation. Please help us honor Nick and maintain his legacy for years to come.

Updated Information with Memorial Details:
It is with great sadness that we let you know of the sudden passing of our former Prior, brother, and friend Nicholas A. Moya. Nick was a senior and a member of the 2015 Theta Class. Nick was and always will be a beloved brother of Sigma Alpha Mu. In all that he did on Penn's campus, Nick embodied the main tenets of our brotherhood and he will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor the life and memory of Nicholas A. Moya at a viewing on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3p.m, with services to follow, at the D'Anjollel Memorial Funeral Home, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall, PA 19008.
The Moya family was explicit in letting us know they have no intention of closing off Nick's funeral. The proceedings are open to all those interested and the service will begin at 3pm at the conclusion of the viewing.
The University has also graciously provided transportation services that will shuttle all those interested from the Sigma Alpha Mu Theta Chapter House on 3817 Walnut Street, Philadelphia PA 19104 to the funeral home and then from the funeral home back to campus. Buses will be set to depart for the funeral home at 1:00pm.
We have received several questions about where and how to donate to either the funeral service or the Moya Family. The Moya family would appreciate donations to the Kyle Ambrogi Foundation at http://kyleambrogifoundation.org.
The Kyle Ambrogi Foundation was started in 2009 in memory of Kyle Ambrogi, a beloved son and brother, treasured friend and celebrated local athlete. The Foundation was founded by Kyle’s mom, Donna, his brother, Greg, and several friends and family members. The ever-growing supporters of the Kyle Ambrogi Foundation strive to delivery on our mission: To promote education and awareness of depression in teens and young adults and promote su***de prevention, while keeping Kyle’s memory alive through academic scholarships and athletic initiatives.
Additionally, here are some relevant links that have been written about Nick in various media outlets that we feel you should have access to.
