Be here tomorrow💙 You matter 💓
Over the last few months, our Intellectual Disability & Autism (ID/A) division leaders and Sue Steege, our President & CEO, continued to meet with leaders to gain support for an increase in funding support for ID/A services.
Sue Steege and our ID/A division leaders met with Michael Gamel-McCormick, Senator Bob Casey’s Disability Policy Advisor. Janice Knowlton, VP of ID/A also partnered with Diane Conway from MAX Association, Jordan Pfister from BARC Developmental Services and Maria Caballero, mother and advocate to meet with Senator Frank Farry’s Chief of Staff, Ryan Skoczylas. The goal of these meetings was to talk about the importance of a direct support professional (DSP) staff wage increase, the need for ID/A services, and the critical role DSPs play in continuity of care for those we serve.
We are excited to see that Governor Shapiro’s 2024-2025 budget includes an investment in this work. While we’re still waiting to hear how this will impact the important work of our organization and others, it is a step in the right direction! We appreciate all of the time and energy that has been put into this effort across the ID/A community!

Access Services
Every individual with special needs is entitled to be part of a community and have the opportunity to lead a rich, fulfilling life. From children and adults with developmental disabilities to those facing mental health challenges, we believe that everyone has the power to overcome tremendous adversity. They only need a steady, helping hand to open the door and guide them on their way.
Since 1976 Access Services has been this helping hand, empowering countless individuals, families and communities in southeastern Pennsylvania through community-based specialized services. We have made it our mission to provide those in need with companionship, hope and opportunity; helping them grow to live independent, meaningful lives on their own terms.
