Center for Literacy and Community Learning Center have united to become BEYOND LITERACY.
Together, we will expand opportunities for adults and families by unleashing the power of literacy through free, high-quality education. Serving as the largest literacy agency in Philadelphia, BEYOND LITERACY helps learners improve their reading, writing, math, English language, digital literacy, and workplace skills. Our classes move students from learning to earning and help them succeed as workers, parents, and neighbors.
Center for Literacy is now "Beyond Literacy" - the result of a recent merger between Center for Literacy and Community Learning Center. Our mission is to expand opportunities and improve lives by unleashing the power of literacy through free, high-quality education. Please support us!

Just say oui. A new Philly center aims to connect French speakers from different continents It’s the creation of four francophones from Africa, Europe and the Caribbean, who want to cut across national lines and connect immigrants based on language.
This just in! Reported in March Newsletter by Regina DeRosa, program coordinator, Francis Scott Key elementary school, located in South Philly: "Mary Wilson and Deicy Perez from Center for Literacy distributed bags of books and materials to Key families enrolled in CFL's Virtual Family Literacy Program, which offers free classes to immigrant families. They enjoyed getting to safely meet everyone in-person." Way to go Mary and Deicy!
Take a look! Thanks to the Free Library for this opportunity.

Our Story
Shaquanda Clemons is one of seven children in her family who all dropped out of high school. Education was not a priority for her. That changed when she came to Center for Literacy, got her GED, and for the past seven years has been working at CFL. Now Shaquanda is CFL’s Senior Data Specialist and in the evening goes to Community College of Philadelphia studying Computer Science - where she got all A’s and made the honors list last spring. What she is most thankful for is giving her son, Caleb, a future.
