BIG NEWS we’ve been waiting for!
Omnipod 5 can now be integrated with Dexcom G7.

At this time, the G7 is ONLY available to patients who are NEW to using Omnipod (there are some other parts to the rollout). For existing Omnipod patients, there will be a free software update from Insulet - the company that makes Omnipod - at the end of July. After the update, you will be able to get the pods that are compatible with G6/G7. You can get these pods using the same prescription that you currently have for your O5 pods. After you receive these pods, please reach out to your diabetes provider for a G7 prescription.

Please note: 🍎🍎🍎 if you are hoping to use your apple phone as the controller of your Omnipod system (another exciting update being released soon), you will need to continue and use G6 sensors/transmitter.

Happy Monday! 💙💙
The Diabetes Center team is recovering from ADA Camp Freedom 🏕️ and catching up from another crazy adventure filled week!
Our med staff group included our own diabetes team members, some “old” team members who work elsewhere now, clinical reps from the companies whose equipment we use and a few other nurses and dietitians. We had a nurse extern—a former patient about to graduate— and a few dietetic interns (one was a former patient!).

Our counselors were amazing this year and included many of our “older” patients and others looking to learn more about diabetes. The head counselor team was made up of all former patients who took off from their jobs for the week.

Of course, all of that staff was there for your amazing kids! Thank you for sharing them with us and for working so hard to make camp happen for your kids. Their smiles and cheers and the hysterical stuff they said kept us all laughing all week while we worked hard on diabetes management behind the scenes while the kids played! Pool time for hours in the hot sun!! ☀️ 💦

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Dexcom Users!!

Dexcom recently created a new sensor replacement policy.
Although Dexcom used to replace sensors that fell off early, moving forward when sensors fail for any reason other than a technical failure, they will only replace 3 sensors per year.

Dexcom will continue to replace all G6 and G7 sensors that have technical failures without any limit on the number of sensors replaced per year.

You MUST include the sensor serial number (G6 and G7) and transmitter serial number (G6 only) when you request a replacement. If you do not include the serial numbers, the sensor replacement will count against your 3 "goodwill" sensor replacements per year.

Dexcom G6 and G7 users can receive up to 3 "goodwill" sensor replacements for non-defective sensors per calendar year. Examples of non-technical sensor failures include: sensors that fall off early, sensors that are intentionally removed by the user, and user application errors.

In case of extenuating circumstances you can request to speak with the Technical Support Leadership team who may be able to authorize additional replacements.

More information regarding the full policy can be found at https://www.dexcom.com/sensor-replacement-policy

Last week, they celebrated Pride Month by wearing the rainbow of colors with clouds on either side! ☁️ 🌈☁️

Today they are all wearing orange for victims of gun violence awareness day. We all thought it was important as Pediatric Providers to raise awareness today. 🧡
