Enabling clinicians and researchers to remotely monitor respiratory health. Strados Labs believes in building a better way to manage respiratory health.
We connect people with real-time respiratory monitoring using a wearable device and connected mobile platform so they can quantify their health and make more informed decisions.
Asthma affects 300 million people worldwide, causing a significant burden to patients and healthcare systems. Wheezing, a hallmark asthma symptom, indicates airway obstruction but is traditionally assessed subjectively and episodically through auscultation and patient self-reporting.
Our RESP® Biosensor is the first FDA-cleared device that continuously captures lung sounds including wheezing—providing clinicians and researchers with greater, more reliable data on treatment response and patient progress.
Features:
• Clinically validated: 510(k) cleared and equivalent to Littman 3200 stethoscope performance
• Passive monitoring: Captures lung sounds passively and continuously as a wearable device
• Patient-friendly: Wireless and unobtrusive with positive patient feedback

Our recent blog, authored by Annotation Manager, Rachel Hollatz, dives deep into understanding lung sounds associated with COPD. These adventitious sounds, like wheezing and crackles, are vital indicators of airflow obstruction, lung fluid, and inflammation. The blog discusses how identifying these sounds can aid in diagnosis, treatment, and proactive management.
Rachel also highlights the limitations of traditional auscultation and the benefits of continuous monitoring through wearables, such as our RESP® Biosensor, offering more comprehensive insights into patient health beyond clinical visits.

COPD Lung Sounds - What Do They Mean? COPD can lead to many lung sounds such as wheezing and crackles that might alarm patients. This article dives into the main COPD lung sounds.
We’re pleased to share insights from Dr. Henry Schmidt, MD, Principal Investigator of our recent pediatric asthma study in collaboration with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.
This study assessed the performance and usability of the RESP® Biosensor in children with asthma, a condition affecting over 5 million children annually and a leading cause of ED visits. Previously used only with adults, the RESP Biosensor shows significant potential in enhancing pediatric asthma management. Key findings revealed the biosensor's sensitivity in detecting wheezing, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from both patients and families. Participants valued its ease of use, expressing optimism for better at-home wheeze detection and access to care.
Dr. Schmidt highlights that continuous lung sound monitoring could greatly improve pediatric asthma care by providing clinicians with objective data at home and in the hospital. This technology allows for earlier assessments, paving the way for timely interventions and improved patient outcomes. Read the full interview here: https://bit.ly/480cQWx
October is National Healthy Lung Month, a reminder to prioritize lung health and raise awareness about protecting our lungs from neglect, bronchitis, mold, pollution, and smoking. If you experience a persistent cough, chest tightness, wheezing, or shortness of breath, especially during physical activity, don’t ignore these warning signs. They could indicate serious lung issues, and a doctor’s visit can help catch problems early.
Take advantage of community resources this October to manage lung conditions, quit smoking, and breathe easier. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4duh3Df

The RESP® Biosensor was designed with both clinicians and patients in mind. Patients can easily apply the small, discreet device to their chest, sync it with an app, and start recording breath sounds with just a tap. This allows care teams to access lung sound data remotely, ensuring continuous monitoring without disrupting daily life. Its low-profile design enhances patient comfort and promotes adherence, capturing data in natural settings.
