DID YOU KNOW? 👇

Here are 3 truths you should know about CARBS.

✅ They aren't "bad" for you.
Carb-containing foods provide a variety of vitamins and minerals, fiber, and sometimes protein.
✅ They don't make you gain weight.
Whether you are consuming carbs, fat, protein, or alcohol, you are consuming calories...and a calorie is a calorie. Taking in more calories than your body uses can result in weight gain regardless of the source.
✅ They are your body's most efficient fuel source.
Carbs break down into glucose, which is easily converted into energy for your muscles, tissues, and organs.

When you eliminate carbs from your diet, you deprive your body of essential nutrients and make it work harder to produce energy from protein and fat stores.

So...what does all this mean?

Eat the carbs!! 🍎🥯🧁

When we get clear on our purpose, it is easier to set goals that excite us and we tend to be more motivated to achieve them.

How to STAY COMMITTED:

Here are some ways that poor planning can prevent us from achieving our goals:

❌ Goals are vague or unrealistic
❌ There is no set deadline
❌ We fail to anticipate obstacles
❌ We waste too much time on unnecessary tasks

Most people are probably making their New Year's resolutions right now. Me? ⬇️

🤩 The end of 2021 is finally upon us. And that means "New Year, New Me!" and other similar declarations of New Year's resolutions are beginning to flood social media.

But did you know that 25% of people abandon their New Year's resolutions after only ONE week?!

Instead of making resolutions this year, I'll be setting goals for 2022.

Why??

Setting goals and writing them down increases the likelihood of achieving them by 42%!!

Self-care: it's not about self-indulgence. Here's what it means ⬇️

Self-care is about taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Some examples of self-care include:

✔ Getting enough sleep
✔ Nourishing your body with healthy foods
✔ Exercising regularly
✔ Learning when and how to say "no" - setting boundaries
✔ Engaging the support of family, friends, healthcare professionals, and/or clergy

JUST GET STARTED!!

There is no right or wrong way - just keep it simple!

✔️ You can do it morning, afternoon, or evening.

✔️ Use a notebook, laptop, or app on your phone.

✔️ Write lists, full sentences, doodles...whatever comes to mind!

Breathe in; breathe out.

In my 5 years as a wellness coach I’ve found that we don’t take enough time to process.

I'm talking about capturing small moments within our day to simply let go.

There are things we should internalize, and other things we should let go of in order to achieve the results we REALLY want. Here's what I mean.

Internalize:

➡️ lessons that we learn and the steps we should take to grow from them

➡️ emotions that need to be processed and the why behind them

➡️ actions that lead to results

Let go of:

❌ negative behaviors (especially of other people)

❌ situations out of our control

❌ things that keep us stuck

Our Story

In college Amanda Hollenbach, founder of VITAL Wellness, dreamed of opening a nutrition and wellness center with a holistic perspective. She believes that numerous social, financial, and psychological factors have a significant impact on nutritional and physical health. Because it seemed like such an overwhelming objective, though, she set it aside as a long-term, "someday" goal.

She spent several years working as a dietitian in hospitals, with progressive advancement in management positions. With these advancements came increasing responsibilities and more time devoted to work. She found herself working 60-80 hours each week and still answering work calls, texts, and emails on her personal time. Vacations were shortened or cancelled and personal commitments broken. Friends and family assumed that this was the life she chose for herself; that she was just a "workaholic" who preferred to spend time with her career rather than with them.

By the time she turned 34, Amanda was completely burnt out. She had gained 30 pounds in 3 months and barely slept. She was arriving home after 12-14 hours each day too exhausted to exercise or prepare a healthy meal; her muscles ached and her nerves were stinging. Her personal relationships were suffering. To make matters worse, Amanda learned that the contract management company she worked for no longer had a contract with the hospital she was working at. She was losing the job she had sacrificed so much for.

This was the wake-up call Amanda hadn't realized she so desperately needed. It gave her the opportunity to examine what she really wanted for her career and personal life. She knew she didn't want to be tied to her career 24/7, unable to spend time with friends and family and constantly having to break personal commitments. She was tired of allowing stress to make her feel exhausted and sick all of the time. While working to restore her health and reflecting on the experience, Amanda learned just how significantly those external factors she feels so strongly about truly impacted her own health and wellbeing. She decided that "someday" had arrived. It was time to pursue her passion and in doing so, help others who wish to reach their wellness goals but can't seem to overcome the obstacles standing in their way
