St. Stephen Cathedral was built by its Founders 50 years ago with the hope it would become the future shining star of Orthodox Christianity in Northeast Philadelphia. That future is now, and we, old and new, are all part of it! Fr. Victor, the remaining Founders and the current Parish Council strongly encourage your participation in the 50th Anniversary celebration on October 4-6, by attending the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy on Saturday, October 5, and supporting our community with purchasing tickets to the celebratory luncheon following the Liturgy. The ticket deadline is September 15, but your commitment as soon as possible is requested and appreciated. So again, please join us to celebrate our history and to look forward together! Inquire in the Church Office after Liturgy any Sunday or email [email protected] for a ticket order form. Order forms are also available on the parish website (ststephenscathedral.org) under the 50th Anniversary Tab.

What a great couple of days at Vacation Church School! The children had the best time exploring Penny Pack Park, taking a walk to Fox Chase Farm, and getting a tour of the farm with all the adorable animals. The children even got to learn some songs with our Choir Director. Plus, they got a lesson in making prosphora, and their hearts filled with love and compassion as they created care packages that will bring joy to those in need. And, of course, no Vacation Church School would be complete without some fun in the sun and water games!

It was a momentous Sunday at St. Stephen's Cathedral with His Eminence, Archbishop Mark of Philadelphia as the main celebrant! During the hierarchical Divine Liturgy, His Eminence ordained Subdeacon Tikhon Wallace to the diaconate. Deacon Tikhon will be trained and serve as the new deacon of our Cathedral. Axios!

His Eminence also received a portrait of him painted by our talented parishioner, Daniel Bondira.

Our Story

We are under the omophorion of The Most Reverend Archbishop Mark, Bishop of Philadelphia and Eastern PA. English is the main language of our parish and it is our hope that many of those who visit and pray with us will be able to become part of the life of the Christian Church that has been preserved and is continued to be practiced in the Eastern Orthodox Church. Because of the significant presence of Russian-speaking immigrants in our area we also have services in Slavonic every Sunday morning and on feast days.
Our parish is located in Northeast Philadelphia next to beautiful Pennypack Park. St. Stephen's was founded in 1971 and since then, with God's Grace, we have become a vibrant Orthodox Christian community with many parishioners coming from the City of Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Vespers on Saturdays is at 5:00PM. Divine Liturgy in Slavonic is at 8:30AM, English at 10:00AM. Please consult our parish calendar on our website, or check back for announcements on feast day service times.
