At the recent Pennsylvania Bar Association annual meeting, the PBA Collaborative Law Committee was honored to receive the PBA’s Award for Outstanding Leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion!

This wonderful award is presented to PBA Entities for outstanding efforts, contributions, or service in furtherance of the PBA Strategic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan, promotion of diversity and inclusion in PBA membership, and a demonstrated commitment to and leadership in promoting full and equal participation in the profession.

Co-Chair Christine Brann accepted the award on behalf of the committee, which BKW’s Lisa Shapson is also a fellow co-chair.

A big thank you to Judge Papademetriou for hosting Lisa Shapson, Lise A. Fisher, Emily Vener, and Carolyn Zack as parenting coordinators this week. The group held an insightful CLE for the Philadelphia Family Court judges on the statewide Parenting Coordination Rule, its proposed changes, and discussed how the Judges can assist the parenting coordination process when issuing their orders.

Megan Watson is no stranger to the Civil Gideon Task Force, of which she is now co-chair!

Did you know that one of our attorneys, Soleiman Raie, is a First Lieutenant with the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol NJ-059 Squadron? He was promoted in December 2023 to Deputy Commander, putting him second in command of this squadron. Pictured here is Sol promoting an officer to Second Lieutenant this week, who is training to be the Squadron's aerial photographer!

Last Thursday, Joni Berner and Lisa Shapson participated on a panel at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law providing valuable insight and perspective on the business of practicing law at a small law firm to current 1L students.
