Would you like to connect and find community with other Arizona parents whose children have dyslexia and/or ADHD?
Consider joining a support group!
We will meet virtually the first and third weeks of each month, beginning in October.
Each group will have a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 parents.
Initially we will hold meetings over Zoom, but I will assess interest in meeting in-person at a later date.
Cost is $80/month per family for 3 months and will include an invitation to at least one advocacy-related presentation and Q & A per month in addition to the bi-monthly support group meetings. Sliding scale pricing is available based on need.
The advocacy presentations will take place at noon on either the second or fourth week of each month on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Fall 2023 advocacy session topics will depend on the needs and interests of the groups but may include:
* what is the difference between an IEP and 504, and how do you know which one is right for your child?
* how do you request and obtain an initial evaluation for special education services?
* how much educational progress should you expect under the IDEA?
* what are your options if you disagree with the school about what your child needs?
* what is an Independent Educational Evaluation (“IEE”) and should you ask for one?
* what is an Arizona Empowerment Scholarship, and is it right for your child?
Please email me at [email protected] for more information or to schedule a free, 20 minute phone consult. Please write “SUPPORT GROUP” in the subject line.
I hope to meet you soon!
I work with parents of neurodivergent, disabled, and other high need children (pre-K-12) as an educational consultant and coach. As an educational consultant, I focus primarily on educating parents about their children's education-related rights, teaching them to become strong and effective advocates, and encouraging them to model and teach self-advocacy to their children. As a coach, I provide concrete parenting strategies and resources while striving to build meaningful, emotional connections, individually and through support groups. I want parents to feel empowered, heard and understood by someone who truly "gets it."
My approach is compassionate, strengths-based, and neurodiversity-affirming. I am not working as an advocate, attorney or providing legal advice, nor am I providing mental health therapy.
I meet with clients virtually from any location.
