Phew!! 🥵 What a week it’s been and it’s only Tuesday!! Our fabulous volunteers have been working overtime picking up and delivering Goldens in need all over the state! Gosh, I just made that sound easy huh? Don’t forget about the intake volunteers, our placement coordinators, our foster families, our vet team and our follow up team (I’m sure I missed some here!).
Everyone has been hard at work to make sure every call we get is answered and quick action is taken to help the dogs. 🦮
Here we have some photos of Goldens we’ve rescued this week and one PUPdate photo from Ella’s litter, Bella.
Bienvenido a tu nueva vida! 🇲🇽🛫🇺🇸
Today we welcomed Capi and Bubba who were rescued in Mexico and are now going to live the rest of their lives in loving homes here in Arizona! Congrats on your new families! 💛
Hi, it’s Heather again. I wanted to thank everyone who commented and reached out about Bo with well wishes. He’s still recovering and we’re not out of the woods yet. I posted an update on his recovery and the next hurdle we’re facing in case you’re interested.
Here’s the post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/CN7JVU53JMVtA4D8/?mibextid=WC7FNe
Bo wanted to make sure I told everyone “&*ck Cancer”! 😉
Thanks again for being patient with our social media. I’m almost back to normal operations here!
Sunny and Ella’s puppies went to their new families over the last several days and there were plenty of smiles and tail wags all over the state! Here are some of the happy puppies showing off their new hoomans. We can’t wait to watch them all grow into the best family dogs ever!
Congrats to all the pups and families! 🥰

Celebrating the month of July, we have Butter! Butter was rescued in China and we brought him to AZ to live the rest of his life with his fantastic new family. 🇺🇸
Here is his story:
Hellooooo Butter here! I am one of the lucky Goldens who made the 25-hour trip from China to the U.S. in 2020. For weeks after arriving, I was nervous but you can’t blame me, I’m now suddenly living on the other side of the world!
Slowly I realized “mom” was always the same person, my beds were for me only, I had my own food bowl and toys for me to play with anytime. I began to feel safe and decided to focus on now and the future and forget about the past.
Today, I proudly serve as the family’s official cuddler, clown, and personal guard for mom when she works from home. She thinks I’m a pretty bad one because apparently I fall asleep on the job. I’m also Ginger’s (Miss December’s) annoying little brother even though I know she secretly loves me. I love life in Arizona and cannot imagine life without my family.
Hi, Butter’s mom here! Our family also cannot imagine life without Butter. He is my family’s third Golden from RAGofAZ and while I truly love all of them to pieces, Butter, despite his first year in China, has turned out to be the sweetest of all to our surprise. Sometimes, I think Butter loves me so much that he wants to be me! He bumps me from my office chair and races me to my spot on the couch, but he wins every time. I love my Butter!
Enjoy these photos of Ella’s puppies as they become more and more active!
*Note: all puppies have been placed and will be heading to their new families in the coming weeks. If you’re interested in future dogs, please apply on our website. As always, we can never predict when we get puppies or dogs into rescue so patience is key! 💛
We finally have photos of Sunny’s litter to share from their vet appointment this weekend! So cute!! 💙🩷
🔅note: all puppies have been placed with their new families and will be going home soon! If you’re interested in future puppies (or adults), feel feee to apply on our website. As always, we can never predict when puppies or otherwise will be coming into our rescue so patience is appreciated!
Hi, Heather here, your social media Director. I’ve received a couple of comments asking why there’s been no activity on our social channels for awhile.
My apologies to our followers but I’ve been dealing with an emergency cancer situation with my rescued baby Bo. He recently turned 4 and was diagnosed with a very large Chondrosarcoma in his chest area, coming from his ribs. He had a major surgery this week and is still in the ICU trying to recover. Needless to say, this took me off guard as he’s so young and this was a very traumatic and risky surgery for any dog to go through.
I promise I will be back to posting updates and fun stuff like before as soon as Bo is in a more stable position. In the meantime, if you’d like to know more about his situation, feel free to check out a post I made to update his friends here:

Thank you for your patience. I promise to post anything that might come up in the rescue that’s critical.
Thanks,
Heather & Bo (and his brother Tug) ❤️🩹
Ella’s puppies are about 5 weeks old and are on the move! How fun to see them playing!
Ella is being the best mama but we think she’s just about ready to be done with their tiny sharp teeth ☺️ (photo of Ella in comments).
🚫Note: all puppies from the three litters have been placed and will go to their new families in a few weeks. We received a very large number of applications and did our best to work through them in the order in which we received them. If you applied and did not get a puppy this time, your application will be held for future puppies as we get them into rescue. Of course we can never predict when that will happen. We appreciate your patience! 🙌🏼
Don’t forget! See you up north this weekend! 😎
🐾 Sunday Pupdate! 🐾
When Tango’s original family decided he was too much puppy for their small apartment, they made the decision to surrender him to us and our volunteers found him the best home ever!
Tango hit the jackpot when he was adopted by his new pawrents and immediately gained a baby sister, Oakleigh! They became best buddies and love to play together. Now 15 months old, Tango is the best boy and spends hours in the pool perfecting his lifeguard skills for when his BFF starts swimming ☺️
Way to go Tango! Congratulations on your new family! 🎉

We wanted to share Bob’s obituary with all of you. His lovely family will be holding a memorial here in Arizona in the Fall and we will let you know when we have more information.
It’s still hard to process the loss of this great man who had such a big impact on our rescue, so, so many Goldens and hundreds of families he met along the way. ❤️🩹

🎉Happy National Rescue Dog day! 🎉
Show us your rescue dogs!! 👀
Here we have Tug, rescued in 2014 by me, your social media manager! 🦮🥰
🐾Sunny Saturday! 🌝
Sunny and her puppies went to the vet today. 4 boys 💙 and 2 girls 🩷
Mama Grey and her puppies here wishing everyone a happy Friday! 🥰
🔅6 of the 10 puppies are still available to adopt! 🔅
These are all boys and are one half Golden Retriever and one half Chow. They are 100% Good Boys!! 💯
We think the more laid back, super loyal traits of a Chow would be balanced by the happy, outgoing traits of a Golden and make a great addition to a family willing to spend some time training and raising them to be social.
If you’re unable to adopt, please like and share this post to help spread the word. We’d like to get all of them into their forever homes in time to celebrate their first Christmas! 🎄
To put in an application, fill out the form here: https://golden-retriever.org/application-to-foster-adopt/

We welcome the last month of the year with our December calendar dog, Parker!
Here is his story:
Life is Golden
After losing our golden retriever Daisy after almost 16 years, we were not sure if we would ever be ready for a new furry friend. However, we did know that we wanted to help a golden in need and give them a great life. So, we took the first step and signed up with Rescue A Golden of AZ.
After eight months and five days before Christmas we got the call of a golden in need of a forever family. His name was Parker and he needed a new home as soon as possible. Well, let’s just say, it was a shock for us and we were hesitant at first, a boy dog, twice the size of Daisy and with medical issues (seizures). Would he be a good fit with our seven month old son? This was a lot for us to take on, but it was what we signed up for and after four months of fostering him we couldn’t see our lives without him. The love and bond that our son Chase and his “Clifford” share is unlike any other. Parker had found his forever home! We want to send a big thank you to Rescue A Golden of AZ and all of your amazing volunteers who made the process so easy and cared for Parker and us along the way. This rescue means a lot to us and will forever have a place in our hearts.
If you haven’t signed up to walk with us in this year’s Fiesta Bowl Parade, please do so!! We’re hoping to get 100 Goldens out there to celebrate our 25th anniversary and show the community our impact!
Please, if you’ve adopted from us this year (or any year!!) or have a Golden (from anywhere), we need you to come out and support us at this event.
Sign up (it’s FREE) here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/9555018c-ff60-4db0-a742-909793fb6f86
This is a family friendly, morning event thats over by Noon (usually). It’s a two mile walk where your Goldens get lots and lots of attention from the crowd! Are we the biggest hit at the parade?! I’d like to think so based on the response we get! 😃
There are a limited number of seats on the float this year (we’re doing a different float for our anniversary!). If you cannot walk the two miles, please sign up to ride the float and Kelly will call you next week to discuss.
Event: December 16th from approx. 8am-Noon in downtown Phoenix.
We recommend wearing a RAGofAZ shirt which can be ordered on our website.
See you ALL there!
This Giving Tuesday, will you join us in supporting our mission to provide every Golden rescue a second chance at a loving, forever home? You can triple your impact, thanks to two members who will match donations to Rescue A Golden of Arizona up to $2,500 in honor of our shared commitment to Golden rescue work.
2023 was an exceptional year for Rescue A Golden of Arizona. We rescued and rehomed 145 dogs, including 20 puppies! Sadly, we anticipate an even busier 2024, and the cost of caring for these dogs – who may arrive sick or malnourished – continues to increase.
That’s where you come in! Your gift gives Goldens a second chance at a better life in a loving home. Golden paws and wagging tails are counting on your compassion!
