Summer classes are in full swing! This week's lesson is on Food Labels, you can watch the video at YouTube.com/FreshOnDeck. The Science Sweet Spot was all about salt, how it's used to preserve food, what it does for the human body and how it reacts to static electricity. The physical activity session focuses on calories, where they come from and how we can work them off!

It's interesting that this product has so many unnatural/chemical products in the version sold in the USA, but the non-USA version doesn't have them.
Food is FUEL, reading labels helps us control what kind of fuel we are putting into our body and brain!

Turning Hunger Into Hope
One Child at a Time...

In 2006 Lisa and Vince Scarpinato learned about a situation where a second grade girl was going through the cafeteria waste can to forage food for her younger siblings, it seems it was her job to provide food for them when provisions were scarce. After doing some research we learned that 1 in 4 children in Arizona are in this same situation, desperate for wholesome food on weekends. The hopelessness of this little girl moved the Scarpinato’s to found Kitchen on the Street to assist low income children struggling with food insecurity. To date, we have been blessed to provide 2,000 children with "Bags of Hope" each weekend which provide the proper nutrition needed for better school attendance, better behavior in the classroom and the ability to excel and garner the value of their education. Currently food rescue is one of the areas we are focusing on and ending food insecurity in Arizona by educating families on nutrition and offering them additional resources for self-sustainment. Kitchen on the Street is now serving children in San Antonio, TX through a blessed relationship with the De La Luz and Cousins families.. These faithful families are now feeding the least of these in their cities and it is turning hunger into hope one child at a time. Do you know someone in a community who would partner with us to do the same? Please pray about it and contact us if so, we are willing to take this ministry to those in need, and we are always looking for those who feel called to come beside us on this amazing journey.
