A community-led diversion network for youth, families and systems.
Understanding and communicating with our teens more closely can help us better connect with them emotionally and physically; avoiding issues like truancy, disorderly conduct, parent-child conflict, fighting, and other problems that could land your child in a system that wasn't designed for them in the first place.
Addressing issues like depression can be one very important step when making an attempt to connect with our child.
Is your teen depressed? Have you noticed a change in his/her behavior, attitude, appetite, etc? If so, do you know what to do? What questions to ask? What steps to take?

Why so many school fights⁉️
In 2019, CDC’s nationwide Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) was administered to high school students across the United States. According to YRBS results from 13, 677 students:
About 1 in 5 high school students reported being bullied on school property in the last year.
8% of high school students had been in a physical fight on school property one or more times during the 12 months before the survey.
More than 7% of high school students had been threatened or injured with a weapon (for example, a gun, knife, or club) on school property one or more times during the 12 months before the survey.
Almost 9% of high school students had not gone to school at least 1 day during the 30 days before the survey because they felt they would be unsafe at school or on their way to or from school. (Source: )

“PITTSBURGH —
The former Shuman Juvenile Detention Center in Pittsburgh, which has been closed since late 2021, is set to reopen this week.
Highland Detention at Shuman Center will open Tuesday with a single, 12-bed pod, the facility's new operator, Latrobe-based Adelphoi, said in a statement.”

Summertime is here, and the long days of summer break present a wonderful opportunity for your teen to explore new activities and interests.
What will your teen be doing during the summer? 🌞
Here are a few suggestions we found to help keep them focused and productive:
🌟Encourage them to take up a hobby or learn a new skill, such as coding, painting, or playing an instrument.
🌟Volunteer work can also be a rewarding way for them to give back to the community while gaining valuable experience.
Additionally, summer programs and internships can provide practical insights into potential career paths. Keeping a balance between fun and productivity will ensure your teen has a fulfilling and enriching summer.

Caring Connections for YOUth was created to help reduce the school-to-prison pipeline by providing the community with options instead of calling the police when our young people are experiencing mental health crises, addiction, behavioral problems, truancy, etc. We are grateful that Governor Shapiro is committed to finding a solution to address mental health.
For more information, visit www.cc4youth.org.
It's Summertime! With little opportunities for our young ones to participate in, they're left to doing whatever..wherever!
Many of our teens are involved in fights or creating loud and disruptive activity in business districts. Some business owners are way too frustrated and/or afraid, so they call 9-1-1.
Is a curfew the solution?
