I simply can’t stop sharing photos from this rehearsal dinner… AND WE HAVEN’T EVEN GOTTEN TO THE WEDDING DAY CONTENT YET 😮‍💨🔥

I was just chatting with my best friend a few days ago about how fun it has been to reconnect with our creative sides over the last few weeks! So many projects and ideas had to be put on hold while we were neck deep in our own wedding planning, and I never realized how much I need a creative outlet outside of my normal 9-5! Now that I’m officially a married lady and the wedding is behind us, I’ve been able to *finally* jump back in with both feet.

Hi Pittsburgh!

It’s been a while since I’ve stepped foot in front of the camera to say hi to you all!

Whether you’re a new follower or an OG, I’d love to share my story with you… so here it goes!

I’ve been doing photography pretty much my whole life, but in 2020 that’s when I started honing in on my craft (going on 4 years now!). I’ve photographed almost 100 weddings, starting my journey in Boston before landing in Pittsburgh as of Fall of 2022.

Like some of you, I’m also a bride-to-be (and a bride on a budget), where I’ll be tying the knot in just about 6 months! This has inspired me to build as many resources for you to make your wedding photography as elegant and easy as possible. (Trust me, I know what you’re going through, so stay tuned for more resources!)

Lastly, I’ll leave you with some fun facts:

I can’t believe it’s already been a month since Zachary popped the question!

Over the past few weeks, I’ve already started diving into the early bits of wedding planning, and there’s ALOT I’m learning along the way!

Current brides - I need your help!

What websites/resources/organization things did you use that you loved?

Did you use anything that you didn’t like? Any other wedding planning tips and tricks to share?

Right now I’m working on a huge excel and my brain can’t keep it all straight!

Despite all the organization craziness, I’m excited that this experience will lead me to ultimately have a better understanding of what my couples are going through!

Kaitlin & Ian 🤍

Kaitlin reached out to me earlier this year about setting up a session to celebrate her and Ian’s one year wedding anniversary so we came up with SUCH a fun idea to celebrate it!

…what we didn’t see coming was that Ian’s job would have them moving across the country several weeks earlier than we anticipated.

With less than a week until they moved, we rescheduled all of our plans, packed up some strawberries and champagne and brought Kaitlin’s vision to life with a sunset picnic in the park 🧺

Despite the quick change of plans, this session came out even better than we could have possibly hoped!

I’m still absolutely gushing over these images and these dreamy picnic vibes 🍓🥂

I’ve been digging through some of the weddings I photographed last year and felt like this one was the perfect one to talk about… VENUES!

As a photographer, I’m always thinking about how to creatively incorporate a venue into your photographs. The great thing about this venue was that with it being a library, it naturally had sooo much character and had several great spots for portraits.

When you’re starting to look for a venue to host your future big day, here are a few things to think about to make sure you’ll get the wedding photos of your dreams:

1. Let there be light! The toughest thing to work around as a photographer is dimly lit venues. When it is too dark inside, your photographer often has to bump up their ISO (which basically means the photos will be kinda grainy).

2. Outside vs inside! Most venues have extraordinary outside spaces like gardens and balconies… but have nowhere for guests to go inside (especially for large bridal party/family groups) if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Definitely talk this over with the venue ahead of time as to what past couples have done when it rains (aka less wedding day stress for you!)

3. Wedding overload! Some venues are larger than others and are able to host more than one wedding in a day (the craziest I’ve ever been to had FOUR at one time!) With venues like this - sometimes they’ll will put limits on where you can (and can’t) be taking photos. If you’ve got a venue like this, make sure you check what restrictions they have for your photographers ahead of time!
