Welcome to Rockies2Appalachians. I hope you can enjoy the beauty of the world through my lens.
One of the things I love about fall is no matter how gloomy ☁️ the skies may be, the leaves always put on a show of brilliant colors 🍁 🍂
On this foggy, damp day this picture seems the most fitting to share. This was taken while on a walk along Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. 🌲 🌫️
A few years back, while living in New Jersey, we took a short trip to Massachusetts to take in the early foliage and some fall festivals. The Berkshires are beautiful!
I was able to capture some autumn light dancing through the trees this past weekend. I managed to get a small sun star and a sun angel 💕 🌞 🍂 🍃
Happy First Day of Fall 🍁 💕

Nothing is more calming than being surrounded by nature. 💕 🌳 ☀️
This is a view of the Mighty Mississippi flowing under the Memphis-Arkansas bridge that connects Memphis, Tennessee to West Memphis, Arkansas. I visited a few cities while in Tennessee, but my favorite was Memphis. I loved walking down Beale Street and hearing the Blues and Jazz coming from each restaurant. I even went on a tour that showcased many places around the city: Sun Studio, Graceland, ducks at The Peabody, Danny Thomas Museum at St. Jude, A. Schwab, South Main Arts District Trolley and so many other places.
The Trolley ride was so fun. Luckily for me it was later in the evening and there were hardly any other riders on the trolley. The driver was amazing. Not only did he tell us about the places we were passing and their history, but he also told us about his life. He had started working as a trolley driver years ago when he first got married. He enjoyed it so much, meeting and interacting with all the people on a daily basis, at this point he had been driving the trolley for more than 20 years. A late teen/early 20s young man got on at the one stop. The driver informed us that he knew this certain young man since he was just an infant that would take the trolley with his mother.
That is probably one of my favorite parts of traveling—getting to know people and hear their stories! It’s been over 10 years and I still remember that man’s story. 💕
We went on a mini vacation to Splash Lagoon in Erie, PA and ended up exploring Presque Isle state park, too. The water was a whopping 59 degrees 😏 so it was a tad too chilly to really enjoy it. However, the scenery was beautiful with the water, waves, boats, barges and sand. My husband was able to climb and enjoy the view from atop the lighthouse on the lake.
Side note: I never knew how many ship wrecks happened in Lake Erie until I saw a map of the wrecks actually plotted in the lake (between 500 and 2,000 😮).
Tilghman/St. Michaels, MD
We took a long weekend getaway to St. Michaels, MD in 2019. We stayed at a home that was built in the 1800s and had great character. We toured the town’s shops, maritime museum and the local restaurants. This photo was taken from a cute restaurant right on the water that consisted of pavilions, umbrellas and picnic tables. They also had a man-made beach, complete with Adirondack chairs, sand toys and a great view of the Chesapeake.
Today we remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can have the liberties that we enjoy today.
Who loves traveling by plane? 🙋🏻♀️ I love traveling by plane for a multitude of reasons:
1. You don’t have to drive, you can sit back and relax!
2. You get to your destination faster!
3. The thrill of flying!
4. You get to see the most beautiful scenery on your trip and I love seeing the changes from flat fields to round-made-by-irrigation fields, to dry desert and peaked mountains.
5. The experience of visiting different airports and seeing all they have to offer, too.
Summer is nearly here! Are you looking to take a trip to the beach but are not sure where to go? Emerald Isle, NC is a beautiful place with miles of beaches! Another good reason to visit Emerald Isle is to take a short drive to New Bern, NC which sits on the Neuse River. There are cute little shops, a pretty waterfront park and it’s also the birthplace of Pepsi! While walking around make sure you look for all the bears—statues of course 😉—and for this beautifully done fountain; the Alleyway Fountain. The fountain was installed in the early 90s where a former pool hall once stood.
💕 This was the garden at my parents’ house a few years ago. I watered it and weeded it on a strict schedule every day. By the end of summer it was a lush, sprawling sea of green. We had zucchinis, tomatoes, cilantro and pumpkins. This is now how I picture my ideal garden. Every morning we would head down and pick the bright yellow pumpkin blossoms. Once we got the blossoms in the house we would rinse them and then fry them up in a little bit of butter. Fried pumpkin blossoms are delicious!

Oh, Alaska! I was fortunate enough to visit the beautiful state of Alaska while on a Princess cruise in 2019. It was the last trip I took before the world was blindsided by the pandemic.
While the itinerary in itself was amazing so was the adventure of getting to the cruise in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The flight was over 6 hours from EWR to YVR. I have a few favorite airports that are generally pretty to look at and pleasant to be in. Vancouver airport is not to be missed if you enjoy an airport with great art exhibits and cultural history depictions. I would fly back into Vancouver just to visit the airport!
The ports of call were, in no particular order, Skagway, Ketchikan, Juneau, Glacier Bay National Park, College Fjord and Anchorage. The entire trip was amazing, although I loved the culture in Ketchikan and the town of Whittier and it’s history. If you ever have a chance to go to Alaska, go!
After nearly a week of rain, the sunshine today reminds me of the beach and summer. Last August I took this picture from the deck of the beach house we rented on Emerald Isle in North Carolina. The only other beach water I had experience with was Atlantic City, NJ and Ocean City, MD. Both of those locations have very cold ocean water, even in the middle of summer!
Emerald Isle was amazingly warm to swim in!
With warm water and it’s close proximity to one of my best friend’s home, it may very well be my favorite beach! Which beach is your favorite to visit?
Many areas got snow last night, so here is a picture of a lush Tongass National Forest to green up your day.

These leaves belong to the beautiful aspen trees of RMNP. During the summer the trees blend in with the conifers due to their green leaves. However, when fall comes around the green aspen leaves turn a gorgeous shade of yellow. This picture was taken on Old Fall River Road in RMNP. This was my first trip up Old Fall River Road; a gorgeous one-way, dirt road that connects to Trail Ridge Road at the Alpine Visitor Center.
This view is courtesy of the Big Thompson Canyon on US 34 in Colorado. It’s a curvy drive with granite rock walls and the beautiful Big Thompson river. While the drive is quite striking it can also be a bit unnerving as there are posted signs reminding you to climb to higher ground in the event of flash flooding.
This tree! 🥰 This is my absolute favorite tree and has been since I was a little girl. It’s located in my parents’ backyard. It’s a huge maple that’s green in summer and turns a myriad orange, red and gold by fall. I love the contrast between the color of the leaves and the blue of the sky.
These Aspens were photographed from my first trip up Trail Ridge Road, RMNP. The yellow just pops among the evergreens.
This picture was taken from Trail Ridge Road, RMNP in the summer of 2012. The haze you see is from wildfires burning in multiple areas around Colorado and surrounding states.
