This little dragon was one of my favorites to photograph 🔥

It was nice to get out to the field to photograph some of the trail patterns today! Loving how these photos turned out!

Animal welfare is a priority always, and I respect any decision that puts the horses and cattle first. Today I will be shooting the reining classes, trail, ranch pattern, and of course candids. Prayers for the continued safety of all animals and humans today, let’s have a good show.

I’m excited for the show this weekend, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t just as excited for dinner at The Pike 40 😋 I can’t wait to dig into a delicious burger with locally sourced beef from just down the road at Dutton Cattle Company. I had the pleasure of staying on their property last year and got to see these beautiful cattle in person. It’s quality you can see and taste. Looking at this picture, I can still hear the shouts of “I’m taking it! I’m taking it!” in my head. The best part of photography is reliving the moments captured in the image. This cow put up a heck of a fight, but Sam got it cut and drove it into the box in an impressive battle of wills!

I’m looking forward to capturing more exciting memories this Saturday at Ohio Foundation Quarter Horse Association. See you there!

I love the challenge of getting a good photo in a less exciting maneuver. Timing the stride, changing the angle, making sure the expression of the horse and rider draw you in. Reining circles and their photos are an understated beauty.

I’ve got some time off between shows, and if you do too then it’s a great time to go back and peruse the photos from the shows we’ve had so far this summer!

Beautiful day for a horse show!

My favorite part of outdoor shows is the impact the weather has on the photos. I love the effects that mud, rain, fog, and sunsets have on the photos and I always look forward to shows with an interesting weather forecast. A lot of people had fun showing in the mud and I had just as much fun photographing it!
