I always understand this (because life!) and will always offer for the deposit amount to be switched to the new date when anyone needs to do that, but they are very kind and have insisted on letting me keep it and put a new deposit on the new date.

Babies grow up too quickly! This peanut went from teeny to toddler in what felt like a time warp! It's been a privilege to see her each time. 🩷🩷🩷🩷

When kids come into the studio with a whole wide range of genuine emotions it's the absolute bestest for capturing personality at each stage. These littles crack me up every time I see them! It's been a joy seeing them growing up so far! 🩷💙🩷💙

I had a very special visitor in the studio a couple of weeks ago!
When I was in my early 20's I experienced the joy of being a nanny for 3 children that taught me SO, SO much about what to expect when I would have my own babies, and they are such a large part of how I know about interacting with the children that I get to photograph.
Those 3 kids made me laugh every day, and drove me crazy at times! 🤣 But mostly they made me so excited for motherhood. Those babies I spent my days with grew up faster than I can even understand, and it's been amazing to see who they have become. Graduations, careers, weddings - all just flying by...
And then it happened. That middle baby... the little blonde maniac (meant in the most loving of ways) who was so free spirited that she threw me for a loop on a regular basis, and prepared me for what to do with my own wild child... she brought me her teeny, tiny, beautiful baby girl to photograph.
My OG nanny kids are a HUGE part of why I do what I do. I recognized how fast it was going and so I knew that I needed to take in every stage possible with my own children and freeze as much of it as I could.
Spoiler alert...I ended up wanting to do that for everyone that needs me to, and while I'm certain I would still be on the path I am on, in helping capture these moments for others, I'm not sure it would have happened quite the same had I not been there with the kids.

Alaina... your baby is more beautiful than I could have imagined, and having the opportunity to turn your own mommy memories into art for you was a gift for me. I'm so proud of you! When she hides her grapes and tells you she ate them.... don't be too hard on her. She will be amazing like you. 🩷🩷🩷

No. I do not want to take your 5 year old's pictures.

I want to do so much more than that. I want to capture their personality.
Their silly.
Their serious.
The kindness in their eyes.
Their "littleness" that's on the way out.
Their heart.

I want to grab it, and help you hold onto it... These kids... they grow up too darned fast. I want these images to adorn your walls, or your table, or somewhere that's "around" so that when he's 12, or 16, or (unimaginably at the time we work together) 21... when you are in your day to day and you walk past and happen to take just a minute to look at them, they're so full of detail and expression that they take you right back to who he was then.
Art that puts you in a place where you remember the giggle. The bony little arm hugs. The mischief. The wonder. All the things that you loved about this stage.

We aren't going to take pictures. We are going to freeze memories.

Woody and his friends are headed out! Those were so much fun! My son was my inspiration for having Andy's Room into the studio, and while he is a grown up person now, I had to have him and Em Mary visit to have some fun pictures!
