Dear Urban Pathways Families and Staff,
I am writing to follow up on the unexpected situation at Urban Pathways 6-12 Charter School (UPCS). On Sunday, September 8th while the building was empty, the hot water tank broke and caused significant water damage in several areas of the school, including essential facilities.
After careful assessment by our maintenance team and consultations with professionals, we have determined that the damage is substantial enough to necessitate the closure of the school for the rest of this week. Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and we need time to address the repairs and ensure that the environment is fully safe for everyone. Please plan to return to school on Monday, September 16, 2024.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding and support. More information for make-up days will be sent at a later date.
If you have any immediate concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Garland, CEO/Principal

Dear UPCS Families,
UPDATE: The Gas Company determined that the cause of the gas smell was coming from an appliance located next door. Further inspections were made as a measure of continued due diligence. The Fire Department and Gas Company have given us the all clear. School will resume as normal, tomorrow, Thursday, May 9th.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Thank you!
