There has been a recent uptick in attempts to remove or ban certain books from schools, public libraries, and other educational spaces. According to PEN America, 4 in 10 books banned in 2022 contained LGBTQIA+ themes and representation.
The University Library System and Pitt Q***r Professionals will host virtual discussions of popular LGTBQIA+ books that have been challenged or banned. We will also host a panel discussion on April 5th! This is a safe space where all are welcome. We will have free books available for the first 10 registrants!

Under the administration of the Hillman University Librarian and director, it includes eleven libraries and holds more than 7.1 million volumes, specialized collections, and major foreign-language materials from around the world. It provides a large array of innovative, world-class services. The ULS is made up of libraries located on the Pittsburgh campus, a Library Resource Facility in the city’s Point Breeze neighborhood housing the Archives Service Center and Digital Research Library, and the libraries of the Greensburg, Johnstown, Titusville, and Bradford campuses.
