Today we made bracelets with ! Campers chose words to describe their personalities, like creative, empathetic, loud, understanding, expressive, and fierce!
Day one is DONE! We had our first instrument lessons, met our new band mates, started writing our songs, and shook out the day with some ZUMBA at the end ๐ canโt wait for day two!!
The fifth and final guest musician that will be joining us this week is โจ Lindsay Liebro is a 19-year-old indie pop singer-songwriter who has already been making waves with her music. From a young age, this Pittsburgh native has always been singing, performing, and writing songs about how she feels. Strapped with her signature blue guitar, she captivates audiences with her vivid lyricism and catchy melodies that honestly capture the emotions that come with growing up. Since releasing her first song in June 2021, she has amassed tens of thousands of monthly Spotify listeners across over 176 countries.
In 2020, Liebro won Singer-Songwriter Competition as the youngest contestant which launched her career in music. From there, she released her song โWasted Potentialโ which has since earned over 2.6 million streams after going viral.
Most recently, through Dance Cry Dance Records, she released taller, her first EP โ produced by Steve Stout (Lifehouse/รzwald). Her versatility, musical acumen, and emotional vulnerability are on full display across the five tracks.
Another band joining us next week! โจโจ is a four piece indie funk band composed of Abby Buzzard on guitar and vocals, Dima Chemaitilly on bass, Dagny Haglund on trumpet and keys, and Nate Weinstein on drums. Local to Pittsburgh, they all met in high school and are currently recording their debut EP.

Another performer that will be joining us at camp next week! โจ Mae Alley is an aspiring singer songwriter, and a former Girlโs Rock camper! Mae attended Girlโs Rock from 2013-2019 where she gained much of her love for music performance today. She is a self taught singer and guitar player who enjoys playing covers and writing her own songs.
Another amazing workshop instructor joins us this year! Julia will be guiding our campers through their band t-shirt/logo design process. Julia is also the designer for our 2024 Camp t-shirt! โจ๐
By day, sheโs an Art Director at Red House Communications, but in her spare time, she channels her creativity into her Etsy shop: JulesDroolsDesigns.
With a keen eye for whimsy, Julia illustrates stickers and postcards that capture the essence of her imaginative world. She also hand sculpts polymer clay jewelry, transforming simple materials into wearable works of art. From vibrant earrings to quirky pendants, her pieces reflect her playful spirit and attention to detail.
When sheโs not working or running her shop, Julia can often be found with her nose buried in a book, exploring new worlds and expanding her imagination. Above all, Julia embraces her quirks and revels in her uniqueness. Sheโs not afraid to be a little weird, believing that itโs what makes life interesting. Whether sheโs doodling in her sketchbook, experimenting with new crafting techniques, or simply being herself, Julia infuses joy and creativity into everything she does.
getting ready for so many non-music workshops next week, as well! Here is leading a screen printing session last year, where campers get to print their own band shirts!
Another exciting guest performance to look forward to during camp week!! โจโจ is a DIY indie pop band local to Pittsburgh, PA. Their music deals with uplifting themes with instrumentation from ukulele, guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums. Soren DeNiz, the lead singer and songwriter of the band, is q***r and Latine and takes a lot of inspiration for writing music from their identity and experiences. The other members of the band, Bea Langer and Lune Stokes, add their own musicality to the arrangement of the songs to give them extra energy when playing live.

Born and raised in Germany, she has been calling the US her home since 2014. Expect warm vocals and mellow guitar-driven pop songs that are ready to become your friend. You might even walk away humming one of them. ๐ We still have a slot for one more guest performer (solo artist or band!) on Friday, August 8. If you are interested, please send us a message!
