This week, CLCV XI got the opportunity to learn more about the Leadership OnBoard (LOB) program. Our LOB program allows for selected participants to serve a one year guest placement on a nonprofit board. Thank you to Mike Makrucki, CLCV X - Highmark Inc. for joining the cohort to share more about his LOB experience with Sojourner House.

Community Leadership Course for Veterans XI is having an exciting summer!

In June, CLCV XI deepened their connection to Southwestern Pennsylvania by networking with established corporate and civic leaders in the region.

This week, CLCV XI learned about the evolution of Pittsburgh's economic and civic history. Participants were challenged to examine future possibilities and how they can be a part of our region's prosperity.

Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. congratulates Leadership Development Initiative # # on completing their Community Impact Project in Beaver Falls, PA. The cohort gathered with the Beaver Falls community to share their final presentation that they developed throughout the program year.

LDI # # worked in partnership with the Beaver Falls CDC to develop a detailed, actionable plan around focus areas aimed to better understand the needs of Beaver Falls. Thank you to the Beaver Falls Community Development Corporation and all community members for welcoming the cohort into your neighborhood. LPInc. is proud to engage with this incredible community in Southwestern PA.

LDI # # and the Beaver Falls CDC ended the day at Beaver Brewing Company to celebrate the Community Impact Project’s completion!

Thank you to University of Pittsburgh's Community Engagement Center in Homewood for generously hosting this session.

Participants heard from Lina Dostilio, EdD, LP # # , LDI XV - Vice Chancellor of Engagement and Community Affairs for the University of Pittsburgh. Lina shared information about the impactful community work being done at the CEC and provided expertise around working on community based projects.

Leadership Pittsburgh XL concluded their program year focusing on the arts, graciously hosted by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall. LP XL learned from three key leaders: Melia Tourangeau, LP # # - Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Patrick Fisher - Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, and Rona L. Nesbit - The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

LP XL explored a variety of arts and cultural organizations on their site visits in the afternoon. Thank you to our hosts for welcoming the cohort to your space and sharing your mission on advancing arts in the region:

This month, Leadership Pittsburgh XL took a deep dive into regional policy at the Pennsylvania Capitol in Harrisburg, PA. Thank you to the Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC team for co-leading and sponsoring this experience for the cohort – Jarah C. Doosé, LDI # # , Charles J. Kolling, Jr., Erin C. Molchany, LP # # , and Randy P. Vulakovich, LDI XV, YALP I.

LP XL was honored to meet with Josh Shapiro, Governor of Pennsylvania, Office of the Governor of Pennsylvania, and Lt. Governor Austin Davis, Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania. The cohort had the invaluable chance to discuss policy in relation to the betterment of our region.

To end the visit, the cohort visited the House Majority Caucus and the Senate Majority Caucus. The class heard from Rep. Joanna McClinton, Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Timothy J. O’Neal, LP # # , Republican Whip of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and Kim Ward, President Pro Tempore of the Pennsylvania Senate.

LP XL had thoughtful and engaging conversations to benefit Southwestern Pennsylvania. LPInc. thanks all the legislators for graciously offering their time and extensive knowledge to LP XL.

Community Leadership Course for Veterans XI traveled to The Laurel Highlands this month for a two-day opening retreat. Participants connected with their cohort, reflected on their leadership styles, and identified goals for their program experience.

Participants ended day one with a workshop at Touchstone Center for Crafts.

Leadership Development Initiative # # recently spent the day at The Club Teen Center in McKeesport, PA thanks to the support of Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania and their President & CEO Chris Watts, LDI XXVII.

The cohort was joined by Pete Mendes, LP XXIV - Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. Board Chair and Mendes Consulting LLC to explore the responsibilities of nonprofit boards.

LDI # # was introduced to nine Leadership OnBoard (LOB) host organizations. LOB offers firsthand experience with nonprofit boards, by allowing select participants to serve a 1-year placement on the board of organizations making a positive impact in the region. This year’s LDI LOB Host Organizations include:
