Connection is at the root of Kirsten's work. Kirsten said "I make art to connect with myself and the world around me. I'm a mixed media artist using fiber art, illustration and collage in both community projects and my own personal work."

As an artist working in the public realm, Kirsten facilitated collaborative fiber art projects during residencies at The Falk Laboratory School, The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and with immigrants from the Turkish and Ukrainian communities in Pittsburgh.

Another focus of Kirsten's has been large scale portrait projects. In Drawn Together, artist Suzanne Werder and Kirsten drew each other every day during January, 2022. During a residency at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, Kirsten drew portraits and interviewed people on Penn Avenue and did the same with passengers at the Pittsburgh International Airport.

Kirsten is a member of the Pittsburgh Creative Corps, Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh and Group A.

“A passion for art and pleasing clients.” That’s what makes Stevo so Stevo-licious. Whether dreaming up whimsical weavings or piecing together magnificent mosaics, Stevo is the rare artist who manages to be both highly creative and very accessible.

A renaissance man of sorts, Stevo has gone from a degree in fiber studies to information science. And his creativity bubbles over into all sorts of interesting areas, from painting to songwriting to web designing.

Yet Stevo’s enduring fascination with fibers and tiles forms the real body of his work – and his success. For several years, Stevo’s name was on a commercially popular, signature series of hand-knit sweaters. His mosaics adorn hotel lobbies, restaurants and residences. His tapestries, scarves and hand-loomed rugs add color and texture to the lives of many customers.

Like the artist himself, Stevo’s work is fun, yet stylish. Creative, yet professional. His joy in creating distinctive pieces is always balanced by his sensitivity to clients. These qualities, little by little, bring Stevo closer to his self-confessed goal: “Making the world a brighter place.”

Grab one of Stevo's custom pieces at Argyle Studio now!

Argyle vendor highlight: Deposit Unknown by Eva Conrad

“The imperfect grid shows up in countless iterations of my work. Perhaps the most universal of all patterns, the grid hints at the idea of decoration and designation of space in its most basic essence. In the grid, as in a chess board or tile floor, there are two opposite forces existing on the same networked surface, portraying the concept of duality and reflection.

My work is based in understanding and contorting these existing structures as a way of exploring the tension which upholds and lives between polarities. By implementing color and form, I embrace what I perceive to be the resurgence of a pattern and decoration movement.

The movement rejects the white-washing minimalism of gentrification aesthetics with maximalism and vibrancy; offering a reference back to folk art, craft and a history of creating beyond necessity. My work emerges in the world as a reflection on moments of attentive introspection, amid seemingly rigid binary systems. I weave patterns, which function on binary oppositions, in and out of my ceramic sculptures and paintings, repetitively, as meditation on the systems of belief we carry unconsciously.

Oppression thrives on binary understanding. It is through play and curiosity that we first challenge these beliefs in aims of understanding and existing. It is one of my biggest goals as an artist to maintain the bravery that is always asking why, and forever building a closeness to my own voice and intuition. It is my greatest hope that what I produce inspires this insight in others.” - Eva Conrad
