During the Strategic Management Capstone course, students worked in teams to develop a growth strategy for Pittsburgh Dental Sleep Medicine (PDSM). 💤
The presentations were evaluated in three stages with four finalist teams presenting to PDSM.

Congratulations to Aquatonomy for winning first place in the Duquesne New Venture Challenge (DNVC)! 🥇 Aquatonomy developed an autonomous robotic inspection solution for underwater applications. The technology expedites inspection and repair time, eliminates risks to humans, and ensures the safety of critical infrastructure. Team members include Dr. Michael Kaess, Dr. Xiaoyu Kaess, and Jane K. Joseph, a 2012 Duquesne University graduate.

Carlos Salazar is a seasoned education and finance professional from Colombia. He has over 15 years of experience as a higher-ed instructor and holds a MS in Corporate Finance.
He currently works as a Graduate Assistant, supporting student learning in data and math courses while assisting faculty with research.
💭 What makes Duquesne University's School of Business unique? Carlos cited business ethics and experiential learning, "Forming leaders who are not just skilled in their fields but also ethically grounded and socially responsible distinguishes Duquesne from many institutions."
He continued, "The School of Business integrates practical experience with academic learning in a way that few other institutions do. Through a combination of internships and project-based learning, students are equipped with real-world skills and understanding."
Carlos aims to land a role in data analytics or information management. His ultimate goal is to forge a path that couples the data industry and his passion for education.
At the Annual Job Negotiation Panel, students learned how to excel at professional communication, negotiate job offers, and set themselves up for success in their new roles. 🤝
The panel was hosted by the Palumbo-Donahue Student Advisory Council (PDSAC) and moderated by Olivia Greene, PDSAC President.

🥇 Congratulations to our finance students for their victory at the Financial Management Association (FMA) Student Leaders' Conference Investment Analysis Competition!
Approximately 300 students attended the conference and worked in teams to write an investment analysis. Duquesne was one of three teams that advanced to the final round and presented their findings to the judges and the entire conference audience.
Their written report, presentation, and Q&A session impressed the expert panel, earning first-place and marking our first-ever win! 👏

Meet our student organization, Women in Business. 🤍
The club hosts professional development events like resume reviews, professor panels, and guest speakers. During each semester, time is dedicated to recharging and cultivating friendships through fun DIY projects.

James Cole, M.S., Analytics and Information Management candidate was on the winning team of the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business Super Analytics Challenge.
📊 During this annual challenge, graduate students across disciplines use data analytics to address regional problems.
This year, students were tasked with developing solutions for the workforce shortage in southwestern Pennsylvania's advanced manufacturing industry.
The competition included students from Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University, Penn State University, and West Virginia University. Each cross-institutional team was assigned an Executive Coach and competed in three phases.
The first-place team included James Cole (Duquesne), Yasha Kaushal (Pitt), Jinqiu Liang (CMU), Anirudh Narayanan (Pitt), Shiv Waleacha (Penn State), with Kee Won Song of IBM serving as their Executive Coach. They will receive fellowship funding to implement their solutions through the Katz Bridge Program, sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh. 🎉
Six Duquesne students competed in this year’s challenge, including five business students: Samuel Baycer, James Cole, Keval Lathiya, Erumusele Onotole, and Carlos Salazar.
