Our friend, and Pittsburgh-based-by-way-of-Seattle artist, Ed Craggs, is exhibiting his show “Noise” in our dining room, through the end of the summer.
We seriously love this man. Upon hearing of our effort to raise money for the , Ed offered to auction off a new work at his reception.
Drop in Thursday, July 25th, from 6-9pm to sit with and enjoy Ed’s work, and some great company from all over the City, including especially the artist himself.
Pay attention for more posts and stories on the evening’s take out and dine in specials, drink specials, raffles, and other ways you can pitch in with Ed to help renovate the Allegheny YMCA - an important part of the Northside social tapestry, and home to 90 of our neighbors.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Poster Design and Show Curation by the talented:
We are very proud of the work our bar staff dedicate themselves to, day in and day out, in our most welcoming and cozy neighborhood restaurant.
Our owner, Don Mahaney (DM) took some snaps on his phone while our Bar Manager, Mackenzie Muller (MM) prepped for a photo shoot (we can’t wait to show off what was able to capture in our tavern and dining room spaces).
One of the many reasons we love having Mackenzie at the helm of our bar program is that she, like all good bartenders, is a great listener. It really is something to see a the joy on our guests’ faces when they try any of Mackenzie’s cocktails for the first time, but especially fulfilling is the moment when she and the guest c

If our tavern handhelds were superheroes (I mean, they kind of are), I like to think that they would form a motley crew of food avengers, answering every online order with bites of welcome and joy to bellies throughout the ‘burgh.
Regardless of my Scratch & Co mascot pipe dreams (any artists who want to help us draw this up, let’s talk), our Sandwich Board is on a quest. And we need you to be a part of it, as our neighbors.
Why the Y?
Not only is the YMCA a vital part of our community as a fitness and resource center in the heart of the Northside, but it is also home to 90 individual men. The Y is raising the funds needed to renovate the building’s kitchen, common spaces, fitness facilities and the 96 living spaces on the floors above.
Scratch & Co has long been a supporter of the . We provided food to the residents during the first two years of the pandemic, and I sit on the community board. We have set out to contribute $10K to their capital campaign. So far, we have worked with our guests to raise $1,500 simply by adding a donation tip line to our checks, hosting a fundraising event (pay attention, we got another one cooking) and raffling tickets to a five-course dinner at the restaurant. Thank you to all who have contributed to date!
Now, we are pledging to send $1 for every sandwich ordered online to the YMCA to help close the funding gap so the project can be shovel ready, on schedule.
Scratch & Co is a neighborhood restaurant. We have always maintained that just by being friendly and welcoming within our four walls we can create a space that feels like home for our staff and our guests, alike. With the Y and all those they serve in mind, we are extending this same belief outward to our neighbors, to build a more resilient and dynamic and welcoming community.
Always trying, sometimes succeeding, never quitting,
Don Mahaney
