The summer months have nearly passed us by, and soon, more monarchs may be passing by monarch watchers on their fall migration south.

Unlike spring migration, monarchs' fall migration is typically completed in just one generation (though some monarchs will breed again in the South in August). The monarchs born in August will live up to nine months, spending the winter in warmer climates before eventually starting next year's migration journey.

South Bay Orchid Society’s Fall Show and Sale, September 7 & 8, 2024, 10am – 4pm at Palos Verdes Art Center 5504 Crestridge Rd, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275.

The show features dozens of award-winning blooming orchid entries from various genera, both species and hybrids grown to perfection by society member hobbyists competing for ribbons, trophies, and awards. Local California commercial growers, nurseries, and well-known international vendors will be offering a wide range and very unique selection of species and hybrid orchids of various genera, companion plants, succulents, bromeliads, hoyas, ferns, exotic and rare plants, foliage plants, fruit trees, growing supplies, and lots more for sale. Many of the orchids can be grown outdoors in our Southern California area.
