WHAT WE DO

POLARIS employs cutting-edge diagnostic technology to augment healthcare, impacting a broad spectrum of patients ranging from young athletes to elderly aging parents. Our technology helps physicians detect, diagnose, and treat health conditions so that patients can receive the level of attention and care they deserve. The evaluation includes a neurological examination, recommended diabetic screening, and the establishment of baseline exam data that may facilitate ruling out various neurologic pathologies.

Autonomic Nervous System Testing (ANS)

Our ANS system provides comprehensive, fully automated autonomic results that are useful for physicians to gauge their patient's health and uncover hidden disease. ANS is a valuable tool in diagnosing hidden illnesses. Having the ability to test patients and receive immediate comprehensive interpretive reports after the test to medical practitioners quickly and easily. Our testing 60 requires minutes to run a full battery of tests including ANS, ABI, Sudo-Motor, as well as EKG. Interpretive reports are generated immediately after testing and includes key physician findings. The reports are very easy to read and understand and include additional details and graph options for the physician and patient.

⦁ Sudden Death
⦁ Silent Heart Attack
⦁ Hypertension
⦁ Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy
⦁ Vascular Abnormalities
⦁ Orthostatic Hypotension
⦁ Syncope

This provides a "baseline" of the patient's health. Testing the autonomic nervous system can identify clinical autonomic disorders and uncover major illness and other hidden diseases, such as:

Diagnosing the problem
We have advanced tools like NeuralScan to diagnose issues like Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, TBI, Migraines, Sleep Disorders, OCD/ADD, and more

Why We Use NeuralScan
Our system is designed to help physicians effectively measure and manage memory loss cognitive impairment and other stress related neurological conditions.

Using our non-invasive measures, we gain more information that helps us make a well-informed decision about your potential treatment.

What is Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive method of direct brain function training. It is also a type of biofeedback and is therefore, also called EEG Biofeedback. It uses the electrodes (which act like tiny microphones) placed on the client's scalp to record and amplify the EEG, or brainwaves and control auditory, visual, and/or tactile feedback which allows learning to take place. This operant learning initiates self-regulation and enhances relaxation, both necessary components of good brain function.

There are so many facets to what neurofeedback is, and the impacts it can have on us are literally endless. The International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR) defines biofeedback as "a process that enables an individual to learn how to change physiological activity for the purposes of improving health and performance. Precise instruments measure physiological activity such as brainwaves, heart function, breathing, muscle activity, and skin temperature. These instruments rapidly and accurately "feed-back" information to the user. The presentation of this information — often in conjunction with changes in thinking, emotions, and behavior — supports desired physiological changes. Over time, these changes can endure without continued use of an instrument.

Many Factors Can Cause Depression
Our body is a highly complex organism. Individuals can develop depression from a combination of factors such as genetics, brain chemistry, lifestyle, environment, personality traits, and high-demanding careers. Stress can exacerbate these factors impacting key functional areas of the brain.

The left, the prefrontal cortex helps us in becoming more engaging and socially interactive. If this side of the prefrontal cortex malfunctions, this would result in mood changes. As the left side of the brain wave activity slows down, we withdraw from friends, family, and favorite hobbies. We lose interest in all the activities we used to enjoy doing. As we retreat, our moods become very negative towards ourselves and others.

When we withdraw our mental energy becomes low, and performing the most basic tasks can feel overwhelming. Often individuals with depression have difficulty sleeping or sleep all day.

Our biology is designed to protect itself from overwhelming life demands and stress. Short and mild depression may be temporary for individuals who have experienced the loss of a job, loved one, or divorce and is not necessarily a long term problem or abnormal. Depression becomes a serious matter when the feeling of sadness extends for weeks and undermines our daily activities, careers, and relationships.

Ambulatory EEG with Video

We can do remote studies with video monitoring with up to 32 channels and 2000 Hz per channel. Ambulatory EEG monitoring with video for diagnosis of epilepsy can be done on an outpatient basis in the office, the hospital, or the patient’s home. The goal is to capture simultaneous brain activity with video of the patient during an event. We provided the pruned information with Neurologist interpolations.

SPECT SCAN
A brain SPECT, or Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography Scan is used to detect altered blood flow in the brain. A SPECT scan is a nuclear medicine exam that uses a radioactive compound to diagnose diseases of the brain. It is a form of radiology due to radiation being used to capture pictures of the human brain. The SPECT can see what MRI and CT often miss. With this technology, one can measure blood flow in 120 regions of the brain.

How does neurofeedback work?
In another way, neurofeedback targets the underlying dysregulation in brain activity that can exacerbate and sometimes cause clinical symptoms. This influence may also encourage neurophysiological resilience with the induction of brain flexibility, relaxation, and a steadier central nervous system. For example, if one's state of neuroanatomy and physiological health is over-stimulated or under-aroused, mental illnesses, with various symptoms may manifest behaviorally, psychologically, emotionally, and/or physically. Such disorders as anxiety and depression may have a base in neurophysiology which consequently can be targeted for training. A brain with greater flexibility has the capacity to more healthily adapt to challenging life situations.

During a session, clients usually report feeling relaxed. Clients sit in a recliner and listen to sounds and/or play a game on a computer screen using their brain to direct the action. When the desired brain wave state is achieved, the game continues and points are accumulated. It's easy and fun. Remember, nothing is being put into your brain. We are simply "listening" to your brain wave activity through sensors, much like a doctor listening to your heart with a stethoscope, and feeding the information back to you. For this reason, it is known as "Neurofeedback."
