The process of partnering with another family is quickly coming upon us. Do you make somewhere between $32,000 and $77,000? If you do, you may be eligible to be our partner family with this new Sanbornton home. The numbers above are based on a four-family household. With either a single or double-earning household. Numbers will change a bit based on how many household members are in your family. As mentioned above, the Sanbornton residence will be a two-bedroom dwelling. So your family must also make sense with the size of the house. As always we are also looking for a family in need.
If you are interested in learning more about the process, please contact Frank McClain, our executive director at [email protected].
We ask partner families to put in a certain amount of sweat equity during the build of the house. We are looking for a true PARTNER family. If this sounds like something that would work in your current situation, please contact Frank at the email above.

In order to accumulate wealth, “they” say that you should spend about 30% of your income on living expenses. Who are they? You know, just they, the powers that be, the people that are sitting in an office with numbers as their superpower.
These HUD (housing and urban development) median income numbers are based on a family of four. We use this information as one of the guides in determining if a family will be a good fit as a partner family. Very soon, we will be looking for a Partner Family for the house that we will be starting in Sanbornton.
The median income that we go off of changes based on the family size. A family of two starts at a different number than a family of four. When it comes to housing assistance, the interesting part here for me is the change in our community. There is always a fluctuation in median income. The median income is when half the families living in a certain area are above the “line” and half are below. From 2021 to 2023 the median income of a 4 person family went up by almost $28,000. With some adjustments over the last year we are now at 20,800 higher median income in 2024 than in 2021.
Has there been that much of an influx of funds going into our community? Has your families income gone up $20/30,000 in the last couple of years? Or could there be other explanations? Food for thought as these numbers are just a guide for us as they can, at times, be very misleading and end up hurting the most financially vulnerable in our areas.
We are looking for ideas for fundraising. Are there any ideas that we have that you really dig? Are there anything that you can suggest that we haven’t thought of? Let us know in the comments.
