Empower, Transform, and Enrich girls' lives through Community, Connection, Camp, and Mentorship. Circle began as a "pilot program" with twenty-two girls.
Circle Program was founded in 1993 by the trustees and camp director of Camp Onaway, a camp for girls on Newfound Lake in Hebron, New Hampshire. They wanted to create a summer camp program for socially and economically disadvantaged New Hampshire girls, but recognized the fact that just a few weeks at camp might not be enough to make a sustainable difference in the lives of the girls. During our first session, this silly group of campers welcomed some of their mentors for an evening of fun! A HUGE thanks to Sam Tracy Music for coming and performing at Circle Camp! Our campers and mentors had so much fun singing along and dancing. We ended the evening with a gratitude Circle! 🎶💙
Our first session campers had such a wonderful field trip to UpReach Tec their first week at camp! They had a great day learning how to care for horses, walking them and grooming them. Thank you to everyone at Upreach who made this experience possible! 🐴💙
One of our favorite traditions at Circle Camp is when the amazing women of the Heartfelt Quilters Guild come with beautiful handmade quilts! Every year, our new campers get to choose one of these quilts to keep. Over the years we have heard incredible stories of past Circle Girls, who many years later, still have their quilts! We can’t thank the Heartfelt Quilters Guild enough for continuing this tradition year after year and creating something so special that our campers can cherish for years to come 💙
We may not have had much sunshine this camp session but we made sure to take advantage when we did! Swimming is always a favorite activity of our campers! ☀️🌊
Can you believe we just started our THIRD week of the first session of Circle Camp?! It has definitely been a wet and rainy camp season so far but our counselors, campers, and directors have been making the best of it! Check out a few photos from some of the activities our campers have been enjoying.

1997: Happy 5th Birthday Circle! 🥳
Continuing on our countdown to our 30th summer, check out these pictures from 1996!
Today we remember service, sacrifice, and selflessness.

Our campers are still just as silly as the campers in 1995! One of the best parts of camp is making new friends and creating memories to last a lifetime.
Before we had our camp property on Spectacle Pond, Circle Program “borrowed” other camp properties around Newfound Lake at the end of their camp seasons. Check out the campers in 1994 sailing on the lake!
Can you believe it?! Circle Program will be starting our 30th Camp season in just 30 days! We’ll be sharing snapshots from the past 30 years so keep an eye on our social media. Today, we’re sharing this photo from the first summer in 1993! 💙

THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who came to Circle Camp over the weekend to help us get ready for our campers to arrive! We had a wonderful group of community members (including the Plymouth Rotary Club), board members, mentors, campers, and their families. We are so grateful for you ALL! 💙
Congratulations to three of our Summer Staff members! They worked extremely hard for four days (including Saturday and Sunday) and passed their lifeguarding certification course! They will make sure all of our campers are safe at our beautiful waterfront on Spectacle Pond! Great work Robyn Boisvert (Circle Director of Programs and Camp), Adrianna Johnson, and Jackie King! 🛟🌊

✨Empowerment Wednesday✨
Circle Program celebrated Earth Day on Saturday by cleaning up the Col Trail after a long winter! Thank you to the Squam Lake Association for thier guidance during this cleanup. A group of staff, mentors, and mentees even chose to summit to the top and had a beautiful (but cloudy) view of the lake!
Today is the Day of Silence — a national student-led movement highlighting the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ+ people. 82% of LGBTQ+ students experienced first-hand harassment or bullying in their school. 71% of students reported that their classrooms did not include any LGBTQ+ topics. More than 30% of LGBTQ+ students reported missing school because they felt unsafe or uncomfortable. Over half of all LGBTQ+ students of color experienced in-person victimization based on race/ethnicity.
This weather has us excited for Circle Camp 2023! We are adding some exciting things to camp this summer. Thanks to a grant from the NH Electric Co-op Foundation, we were able to add these garden beds to camp! We can’t wait to welcome our campers and teach them about gardening!
✨Empowerment Wednesday✨
What is GLSEN’s Day of Silence?
Day of Silence is a national student-led demonstration where LGBTQ+ students and allies around the country take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination of LGBTQ+ people in school. Every April there is a day chosen, this year on April 14th, students will go through the school day without speaking. At the end of the day, they participate in Breaking the Silence rallies and events to share their experiences and bring attention to the ways their schools and communities can become more inclusive.
This year, the Day of Silence theme is Rising Up. As part of that theme, educators and other adults across the country will spend the day speaking up in every space online and offline in defense of the rights of LGBTQ+ students. In this time when LGBTQ+ students are being targeted, it is more critical than ever for adults to loudly claim a day of NO silence.
Check out www.glsen.org/dayofsilence for more information!
Thank you The Mayhew Program for letting us join you in this training! We love working with you and are excited to bring the knowledge we learned back to Circle!
✨ Happy International Women’s Day! ✨
This is a day to celebrate all women, young and old.
How can you celebrate this day?
1. Watch a documentary about women’s rights
2. Read books about gender equality
3. Add some new podcasts to your list
4. Learn about the challenges women and girls face around the world
5. Give back to your community
Here are some ways to honor a woman on International Women’s Day:
1. Celebrate the achievements of women, young and old that have made a difference
2. Celebrate an important woman in your life
3. Support women run businesses
4. Become a mentor to a local teen
5. Send a message of appreciation to your women peers, colleagues or family members
6. Watch a movie with strong women leads
7. Read and learn about the ways women have made significant changes to the world in this last century
You are not limited to celebrating women on International Women’s Day or Women’s History Month, you can get out there and celebrate women by thinking of ways that you can make a difference for another woman every day!
“Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women” – Maya Angelou
“Well behaved women rarely make history” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Our Women’s History Month Highlight of the Day is Amanda Gorman, a 24-year-old American poet and activist. You may recognize her name, as she was chosen to read her poem, “The Hill We Climb” at the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
She was born with an auditory processing disorder and a speech impediment; she never thought of this as a crutch, rather, she saw it as a gift and became a strong reader and writer at a very young age. She credited a Marianne Williamson quote, “our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure” for showing her strength. Amanda’s writing has become famous and in April of 2017, she became the first National Youth Poet Laureate.
She attended Harvard University, graduating in 2020 cm laude. She believes strongly in empowering young people and in 2016, Gorman founded the nonprofit organization One Pen One Page, a youth writing and leadership program. Currently, she is writing two children’s books for Viking. Amanda’s poetry has powerful messages. She rallies her readers and listeners to set aside differences and to unite.
