This year’s Mariners For Mental Health is October 13. Kicking off and World Mental Health Day. We hope to raise funds for our Plant A Camp Program, seeding pediatric summer camps for kids living with OCD and related disorders. We will also be raising awareness as we take our sunset cruise down the waterfront of St. Augustine on The event is so much fun! Kindness, compassion, and awareness! Three small things you can do to make life better for those who are struggling.

Everyone who participated last year had a blast! This year’s sunset cruise will kick off World Mental Health Day and OCD awareness week. Proceeds from this event will support our “Plant A Camp” initiative, seeding pediatric summer camps for kids living with OCD , anxiety and related disorders. Tickets start at only $35!

Although this subtype lacks “tangible opportunity for exposure”, treatment can still be effective. Like every OCD battle, these intrusive thoughts cause threat or fear, most not based in reality, or can be proven to be of no real consequence. Learning to live with uncertainty is key to beating OCD. Read the article in the link in our story. You can still live a full, joyful life, even if your thoughts want you to figure out the larger questions of the universe!

It is that love and devotion that will give us the strength to support our children no matter what they are going through! Ponte Vedra nonprofit expands with summer camps nationwide for children with OCD Kim Vincenty's son Jack was diagnosed with OCD as a child. She founded the nonprofit JACK Mental Health Advocacy to help other families cope.

More empowering thoughts from someone living a full life with OCD. Your passions will drive your will to fight, and to stay on the road to recovery! Be it cycling, surfing, music, your career, your relationships, your hobbies etc…. They are all sources of fuel to keep you engaged in treatment and following the value based life you deserve!

I keenly remember when someone told me to firmly tell my son to “ just snap out of it”. The ignorance and misunderstanding of OCD and related disorders remains a problem. The good news is, the OCD community is truly amazing. There are gifted clinicians, researchers, advocates, peer support specialists, support groups and individuals with a great understanding of this disorder. Reach out and get the support you need . Don’t allow yourself to ever feel belittled, discouraged or discarded.

Back to School! It’s that time of year for so many, and the anxieties around it are real! I’m resharing this because I recently had two conversations with Moms who are nervous about sending their child with OCD back to school. We love our kids, we want to protect them, we’re always going to be apprehensive, but we need to keep demonstrating that we believe they can do all the things other kids can do. And they can!
