We'll put this to some good use on Saturday, October 14.

Hi all,

Jim Groce here with info about the pistol match coming up on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Due to this continuing brutal heat, let's do the stage setup at 7:00 a.m. on Range A and do a quick stage review right there. I will have just returned home from a little trip the day before the match, so I'm keeping the target setup very simple.

In June we had the maiden voyage for the Moving Target System (MTS) Version 1. It was OK-ish. It was a bit fun. But it was a bit slow with only about 4 feet per second (fps) for its movement. For the Tueller Drill (knife assailant at 21 feet away, draw, put two on target in 1.5 seconds, Sgt Tueller Explains) that I would like us to do, we need 14 fps. Well, haven't accomplished that quite yet, but the new RF controlled MTS Version 2 (MTS Ver 2) will provide 7.3 fps. And, looking to incorporate this RF controlled moving actuator (RF Actuator) into October's match, which will also have some PCC action.

Here are the stage layouts, attached. Print out a copy if you want your own hardcopy.

I'll see you in September!

Oh, one last thing - like last time - please don't shoot my moving target system!

Hi all, Jim Groce here with information for the for the July 8, 2023 pistol match. We'll be doing the NRA short gallery course of fire on Range F from 8:00 a.m. until noon. The competition will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Here is a link to the NRA rules for this type of competition:https://competitions.nra.org/media/8917/2023-precision-pistol-rules.pdf
As we did in last year's match for this style of competition, we'll be deviating from the NRA rules just a bit by allowing the use of two-handed shooting for those who choose to do that. The categories for this match includes:
- iron sights, one-handed for center fire handguns
- iron sights, one-handed for .22 caliber handguns

- iron sights, two-handed for center fire handguns
- iron sights, two-handed for .22 caliber handguns

- optics, one-handed for center fire handguns
- optics, one-handed for .22 caliber handguns

- optics , two-handed for center fire handguns
- optics, two-handed for .22 caliber handguns

The distance for this match is 15 yards.

Course of fire will be:
Slow fire is 10 rounds within 10 minutes.
Timed fire is two strings of five in 20 seconds for each string.
Rapid fire is two strings of five in 10 seconds for each string.

See you there!

Hi all,

Jim Groce here with info about the pistol match this Saturday, June 10, 2023, if the Texas weather permits.

We'll be staying with our standard start time of 8:00 a.m. setup time, followed by a quick pre-match briefing in the club house.

This will be the maiden voyage for the moving target system. All four stages use it. We'll start off slow and let everyone build some comfort and some skill. Then we'll increase the difficulty just a bit each stage. Stage 3 might be a bit challenging with some freestyle, strong hand and weak hand shooting required. But Stage 4 is, as I like to do, the big finish with some "let 'em have it!" shooting.

Here are the stage layouts. Print out a copy if you want your own hardcopy.
See you Saturday!

BTW, the present weather forecast for Poolville, TX on Saturday shows rain later in afternoon, well after we're done.

Oh, one last thing - don't shoot my moving target system! Looking at you, Tom!!

PCSC Pistol Match - MAY 2023 05/22/2023

This was our re-scheduled match due to being rained out last weekend. Since we were taking out a chunk of time from Range A's availability to the general membership, we limited this to a 2.5 hour time slot on Sunday afternoon, 5-21-23.

The shortened time for the match was the impetus to change things from the original Guardians of the Galaxy theme. We used our reactive targets in a huge way this time: the shoot thru bottles, the self healing windmills, and the hard compressed rubber target tiles.

Initially, we had two stages laid out and planned to evaluate how much time we took to complete a stage - usually driven by how many shooters we got - and the reset time - usually driven by pasting the holes in paper targets. We were very fast completing these two stages, even with 13 shooters. So, we incorporated a third stage that everyone contributed to for its design.

BTW, the Texas weather cooperated fully with us today with nice 70's temps and an overcast sky keeping the sun out of the shooters' eyes.

PCSC Rifle Match - MAY 2023 This match had three sections, three courses of fire. The first consisted of shooting the B-27 target at 100 yards using a precision, scoped rifle with 5 rounds in 30 seconds. The second consisted of shooting that same B-27 target at the 50 yard line with a carbine rifle with 10 rounds from the firs...

You might notice a Guardians of the Galaxy flavor in this month's match with various strange looking bad guys. As we discussed last time, the target tiles will be featured on the last stage. Got something in the works that might get to come out to play on that last stage. We'll see, it still needs a bit of work.

Here are the stage layouts. Print out a copy if you want your own hardcopy.

See you Saturday!

BTW, if we were to get rained out on Saturday, for you regular attendees to the matches what would you think of a early Sunday afternoon the following weekend? We don't want to compete with the rifle match on that weekend's Saturday. Just polling at this point. Provide your thoughts with a comment here or to my email.

Good Evening,
I know it is a bit late, Erin and I want to thank everyone who attended the swapmeet on the 18th. It was again a success with plenty of fellowship to be had. Several new members participated as vendors for the first time, congratulations to them. The Ta**us raffle firearm was won by Leslie Leslie.
Again, thanks to Jenny and James at Onward Arms for making the raffles possible. Looking forward to June and another great event. It could not happen without everyone involved, vendors, floor traffic, and the setup and breakdown volunteers.

Please, do not, makeshift target frame holders. We hope to have all railroad ties and new target frame holders in place by next weekend on all ranges.
This photo is not current, but you can see what was necessary in the berm rework.
Thanks for your patience as this was a most needed bit of work.
