“People don’t necessarily realize how much the ownership structure of an advisory firm can affect how a company operates,” says Arnerich Massena Senior Wealth Strategist Glen Goland, JD, CFP®. “Who does your advisor answer to ― is it a group of shareholders, private equity investors, or company partners? That matters when it comes to their priorities and serving your interests without conflicts.” We want to help people understand the influences advisors might be subject to and how to assess what that means when it comes to how they advise their clients, which is why we have published The Right Fit: Why it matters and how to find it, a paper that offers guidance on what to look for and how to align your choice of advisor with your goals and priorities. Investing can be an emotional experience, which is one of the reasons a financial advisor can be so helpful. A thoughtful, disciplined plan helps take the emotion out of the process. But sometimes investors let the fear or greed get the better of them: GOBankingRatesates’ Heather Taylor asked advisors about times clients ignored their advice and ended up regretting it. In U.S. News and World Report's & World Report’s “10 Strategies to Maximize Your 401(k) Balance,” Kate Stalter asks financial professionals to weigh in on topics like vesting, taking distributions, and making the most of your tax breaks when it comes to your 401(k). She quotes Arnerich Massena Senior Wealth Strategist Glen Goland, JD, CFP®, on using a Roth option, minimizing fees, and diversifying assets: “’Investing is a bit like being stuck in a traffic jam, as it is tempting to constantly jump lanes to get into the one that is moving the fastest,’ Goland said. ‘A properly diversified portfolio has a car in each lane, knowing that there is always going to be a leader and always going to be a laggard.’” Read the full article at https://money.usnews.com/money/retirement/401ks/articles/strategies-to-maximize-your-401-k-balance

Arnerich Massena is pleased to present our new white paper: Seeking Asymmetry: What the Hedge & Diversifying asset class brings to a portfolio. The white paper examines the benefits of the Hedge & Diversifying asset class, how it fits into a portfolio, and why investors should consider incorporating it into a long-term asset allocation strategy.
“Data show that hedge funds have historically provided a generally smoother ride over equities for investors,” points out Senior Research Analyst Arthur Coyne, CFA. “Over long time periods, we see that hedge funds lie in a sweet spot between bonds and stocks. They earn a higher return than bonds with only slightly higher volatility, and they tend to have much less volatility than stocks but with only a slightly lower long-term return.” Learn more and download the paper at https://arnerichmassena.com/arnerich-massena-publishes-seeking-asymmetry-what-the-hedge-diversifying-asset-class-brings-to-a-portfolio?categoryId=0&sort=postDate%20desc&showArchivedPosts=0&q=
Arnerich Massena is pleased to announce the publication of a new white paper: Seeking Asymmetry: What the Hedge & Diversifying asset class brings to a portfolio. The white paper examines the benefits of the Hedge & Diversifying asset class, how it fits into a portfolio, and why investors should consider incorporating it into a long-term asset allocation strategy.
“Hedge fund managers look for opportunities for asymmetric return,” explains Co-CEO and Chief Investment Officer Bryan Shipley, CFA, CAIA. “Which means they are seeking avenues for higher potential return with limited volatility. Capital preservation is a key outcome, and they typically actively manage for contingencies on the downside.” Learn more and download the paper at https://arnerichmassena.com/arnerich-massena-publishes-seeking-asymmetry-what-the-hedge-diversifying-asset-class-brings-to-a-portfolio?categoryId=0&sort=postDate%20desc&showArchivedPosts=0&q=

Investor sentiment around hedge funds varies based on the market environment; it can be challenging to recognize the value of hedge funds during strong bull equity markets. But we believe the Hedge & Diversifying asset class adds stability and downside protection, and can be a valuable addition for some investors when used appropriately. In this paper, we share our data and reasoning for utilizing this asset class, as well as outlining how we make use of Hedge & Diversifying investments in our portfolio construction.
