The sun is setting on the last night of The Dolomites: Yoga, Hiking & Wellness Retreat.
33 wonderful attendees and 3 lovely instructors gathered together in the Italian Alps for yoga, hikes, bike rides, wine tasting, cooking classes, sauna sessions, swimming, and relaxation at the spectacular

First full day of the Yoga in the Dolomites retreat underway!
Morning started with a lovely yoga session led by to work out the kinks of travel, then a gorgeous hike with magnificent views and a picnic lunch.

Today is the first Sunday of October which means First Sunday Restorative Yoga is on the schedule.
This extended practice starts at 4:00pm and ends at 5:15pm.
Relax and cozy into the end of the afternoon weekend to unwind, nourish, and restore.
In our seasonal monthly restorative yoga extended class, we will create space for slowing down and turning inward. Using breathing practices and supported restorative poses we will tend to our nervous systems, quiet our minds and provide opportunity for deep relaxation and rest.
Restorative postures will be held for 5-10 minutes, utilizing blankets, bolsters, sand bags, straps and blocks.
For all levels, no yoga experience is needed.

Pam is delighted to be able to share her practice with the Sellwood Yoga community, which has warmly welcomed her both as a student, and as a graduate of the 500 hour Advanced Teacher Training.
Pam is a Kripalu-trained Yoga teacher and 30-year Yoga practitioner, who relocated to Portland from Vermont. She has been teaching for 10 years, with an emphasis on cultivating compassionate self-awareness through mindful movement, grounding breathwork, and heart-centered meditation.

Peri-Meno-Post-Pause!
In June, I officially crossed to postmenopausal after over 10 years in perimenopause. That milestone came almost exactly 20 years after I gave birth to Isaak. When I hit that point, I called Dr. Marsha Hamilton and said, “We need to celebrate menopause more!” At the time, we were deep into planning our program—Pause. We joked about hosting a celebration, and Marsha had some clever ideas for mocktails and cocktails, like the Dark & Stormy, Dry, Stiff & Sore Martini, and the Burning Bush (more on those in a future post!).
Fast forward to September, and tomorrow night, we’re hosting a Zoom Q&A to share what you can expect from our 6-month Pause program (perimenopause to postmenopause).
The program kicks off in December and can be done completely virtual or hybrid! It includes monthly group sessions at Sellwood Yoga, live-stream lectures, community support, an online learning portal, and more!

Class Style Focus:
RESTORATIVE YOGA at Sellwood Yoga.
Restorative Yoga is a restful practice that involves slowing down and opening the body through passive holds done on the floor with the support of yoga props like blankets, bolsters, sand bags and blocks.
The class emphasizes the meditative aspect of yoga and deep relaxation by staying in each posture for 5-10 minutes, with very little movement. It is a practice that can lead to deep relaxation and stress release.
Offered weekly at Sellwood Yoga every Monday and Wednesday evening from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

What is HATHA YOGA at Sellwood Yoga?
This class draws on Iyengar, Vinyasa and classical Hatha yoga principles.
Hatha classes move through a variety of postures, themes, and focuses to balance body and mind, powerfully and presently.
Slower paced than Vinyasa Flow, Hatha classes are suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
The class offers attention to the foundation, alignment, and subtleties of each posture, with guidance towards expressing each pose to address individual needs.

Full Moon Restorative Yoga Extended Practice with Sally Shuey

Let the moon be your shining reminder to make time for the rejuvenating rest that Restorative Yoga brings.

Wake up, breathe, move, sweat, stretch & SUP.
Join us for a morning SUP paddle and stretch trip to celebrate Summer. We will set out on our journey at the Sellwood Riverfront Park and head north up the Willamette River towards Ross Island.
On the way, there is plenty of beautiful scenery, architecture and nature to enjoy. At the halfway point, we will tuck back into a cove where bald eagles nest and do some stretching on the boards, then make the loop back to where we launched at Sellwood Riverfront Park.
This is a really fun way to start your day and see the natural beauty of the Willamette River. You don’t have to have any SUP experience. We will teach you the basics of paddling at the start.
