Should we carry online too??
We’re in a season of RESTOCKS 😁 See why customers love these items and grab them before we sell out again!
And make sure if there’s a sold out product in the site you’re waiting for to fill out the “Notify Me” option so you get an email when it comes back in stock!
As we approach this autumnal equinox, here's a friendly reminder to leave the leaves! Leaves provide vital habitat, act as free mulch, and leaving them helps to cut down on the use of gas-powered blowers and their pollution.
Have a little one in your life…or maybe expecting one soon? We have so many great baby and kid items currently marked down. A lot of them are the *last few* we have in stock, so now's the time to grab them, folks! 👶🏾
Have you registered to vote yet? Updated your registration with your latest address? Checked that you haven't been purged from the voter list since the last election?
Now's the time! Voter registration deadlines start around the country in October, so this month is the perfect time to get yourself squared away. Election day is just TWO MONTHS AWAY!
As a thank you, we'd love to reward your civic efforts with a treat!
ONLINE: Email us at [email protected] OR tag us in your IG posts/stories with a picture/screenshot of your online registration confirmation or sealed voter cards. (Feel free to blur or black out any sensitive information other than your name!)
IN-STORE: We have Oregon voter cards for you to fill out in the shop! Or you can complete your registration online and show us your confirmation in person.
We encourage y'all to vote every day with your dollars, but don't forget about that ballot either! That's a power we're privileged to have and can't let go to waste.
Did you know we have so many different products to support your oral hygiene? We just received restocks for a lot of our toothpaste options, so now’s a great time to spotlight them!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some have fluoride, some use a natural alternative called N-HA, but all keep your teeth healthy and clean! Swipe through to read about each option and let us know if you’ve tried any of these in the comments! 🪥
We love that bars help you reduce waste by avoiding the need for plastic bottles, and we also love DIYing our own solutions so that we can feel good about knowing exactly what ingredients we're using on our bodies. Enter lotion bars! Make one just for yourself or make some extra to give to a friend as a gift!
For this recipe, you'll need:
2 parts beeswax (or sub candelilla wax for a vegan alternative)
1 part cocoa butter
1 part shea butter
1 part coconut oil
2 parts almond oil (or other liquid oil)
3 drops vitamin E oil
Instructions:
1. Combine grated beeswax, grated cocoa butter, shea butter, and coconut oil in a glass cup or bowl.
2. Fill a pot with 1 - 2" water and add the bowl.
3. Heat until melted.
4. Remove from heat and add liquid oil and vitamin E.
5. Stir to combine.
6. Pour into mold (a silicone ice cube tray or muffin pan will work great).
7. Let cool overnight, or freeze for one hour.
8. Remove from the mold and enjoy!
And if you're not up to this DIY quite yet, you can always pick up one of our lovely luxurious lotion bars from Nopalera in-store or at WayofBeing.co!
Big news for you and your booties! 🍑
Way of Being is now offering T***y bidets ONLINE ONLY at wayofbeing.co. 🤸🏾♀️🤸♀️
Our co-founders Alex and Lindsay (and our husbands too tbh) have been big fans of T***y bidets for years and have no intention of going bidet-less ever again! We've wanted to share the t***y love with y'all for years (especially when you come in the shop and get freaked out about our reusable Toilet UNpaper Roll) and are excited for those of you who haven't tried yet to get to experience it.
More good news: They're currently on sale for 20-30% off their regular prices! 🤠
A few other things that make us really into these bad boys:
-T***y is AAPI woman-owned and based in the US!
-Easy to install and will have you feeling like you're a plumber who can conquer the world!
-You can use toilet paper (we prefer bamboo) or reusable wipes to clean up, which reduces waste.
Note: These products will ship directly from T***y, but when you order through Way of Being you can still combine with our order or shipping discounts. This helps support both of our businesses and saves carbon emissions of shipping bulky items like these multiple times.
Grossed out? Excited? Let us know if you have any questions!

Way of Being yellow, but make it revived 💛
One of my new favorite businesses in Portland (and Lake Oswego) is -- the best spot in town for secondhand, high quality active wear for all genders!
Stopped in the other day and got a few things for myself and my 16 year old nephew who was pumped to find some of his favorite brands there.
I'm officially a , and next month we're doing a special partnership with them so stay tuned! We love supporting other small, local, and sustainability minded businesses and organizations, and Revive has literally got it all.

There are so many easy, simple, and cost-efficient ways to reduce plastic. What are some of your favorite swaps or ways to cut out plastic?
We're thinking about what independence means to us this Independence Day and what we plan to do with our hard-fought-for rights and often taken-for-granted roles as Americans.
For us, it's the privilege of safety, freedom, and resources available to adequately take care of ourselves and our families while so many others around the world (and in our own country) experience genuine scarcity.
And it's also the agency to contribute to and participate in the vision and experience of being American. It means supporting the people and the businesses that are based here and operating ethically and sustainably, which keeps our local communities and economies strong, stable, and safe.
It means minimizing harm to our environment and even supporting its regeneration so that we can sustain the ecosystems we all depend on and reduce damage to our bodies and our neighbors' bodies.
It means doing our best with what we have, which is more than many.
Wield your freedom intentionally today by shopping our USA-made collection at wayofbeing.co or in-store until 4pm today!
Shop online or stop into the store today or tomorrow to take advantage of an additional 15% off our sale section!
Open 11-6 today and 11-5 Sunday at 3418 SE Hawthorne ☀️☀️
Happy Juneteenth, y'all!
Today, as a Black business owner and daughter of multiple Black business owners, I'm thinking a lot about financial freedom.
About the freedom to be my own boss, the master of my fate, and the captain of my soul. The freedom to work in a safe environment where I can be pretty much 100% myself, no code-switching, no "should I say something about that comment?" The freedom to say yes and no to what I need or don't. The freedom of financial security for my family. The freedom to generate generational wealth. The freedom to support other small businesses and causes I believe in.
Can't say I have all of that freedom yet, and I know I'm far from alone, but what a beautiful and powerful aspiration for descendants of those formerly enslaved.
Consider supporting a Black-owned business today in honor of Juneteenth and every day for a freer and more equitable future.
🎶 Summer summer summer saaaale 🎶
Take advantage of us trying to lighten our load by taking an extra 15% off our updated sale section of over 100 low waste products!
Ok technically it's not summer yet, we know. It's taking FOREVER to get here though, is it not?
Well, it's a bit of a slow start to summer over here, and to be honest, we have some product we're antsy to get off our shelves and you know, bills to pay and whatnot... so we think that's more than enough reason to GET THE POOL PARTY STARTED since that solstice is just right around the corner anyway.
Featuring so many products we love but y'all have been sleepin on a lil bit.
Use code SUMMERSALE at checkout (IN-STORE AND ONLINE) to get an extra 15% off. We hope you find some things you love!
NEXT SATURDAY we're hosting in our Portland shop for a SAMPLE SALE featuring Saalt's amazing line of menstrual cups, discs, and leakproof underwear!
We've been big fans of this brand for a while (they've been on our prospective vendor list, and we're dying to add them!). We love that they're a fellow Latina-owned, Certified-Climate Negative B Corp with a great give-back culture, and some of our team have used and love their products!
Come stop by the shop and get your saalt on next Saturday, June 22 from 11-4.
We 💛 Pride Month! And it's not just because this month feels kind of like Spirit Week for grown-ups.
Sure, we love seeing the bright, colorful outfits, rainbows galore, and celebrating our LGBTQIA+ friends getting to live their best lives authentically and safely.
But we also know that there's so much power in putting our money where our mouths are by supporting queer-owned businesses. Doing so gives business owners the freedom to support themselves without fear of discriminatory workplaces while also creating more safe spaces and inclusive products and services for all.
This month and every month, you can find our collection of LGBTQIA+ owned businesses on our website in the SHOP BY VALUES section on our menu. The more you order those products, the more we can restock them and send $$ their way!
And please know that, unless you identify as hateful, you are always welcome and embraced in our shop and community.
If you know of other LGBTQ+ owned businesses with plastic-free or plastic-minimal packaging, nontoxic ingredients and/or sustainable materials, tag them in the comments!
Have you used our Vegetable Crisper Bags before? We just added this NEW one that’s specifically for herbs!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This two-pocket bag was designed with bundles of herbs in mind. Keep your cilantro, parsley, dill, and other leafy herbs fresh. Also handy for smaller vegetables or portions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While conventional plastic bags and boxes suffocate vegetables by trapping stale air and ethylene gas, these damp cotton bags keep moisture-loving vegetables alive and crisp in a high-humidity, breathable environment.
Shop owner reality: sometimes you mop your shop more than you mop your own home! 🧹
We weirdly get joy from doing all the small things around the shop to deliver the best vibes for all who enter. ✨
Bonus is getting to use products that we are proud to carry from women-owned, Oregon-based businesses like Mop Pads from and Floor Cleaner from . And in case you're wondering, yes, it does smell good in here! 😄
Hope y'all are able to find some joy from the little things in your life today too!
It may be rainy and chilly in Portland today, but a week from today it’s supposed to be 80ºF AND we’ll be having a pop-up with .life!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stop by on Saturday, May 11th from 4-6 pm to learn about Conscia shampoo and conditioner stones from Conscia founder, Nicole! She’ll be in store providing free scalp consultations to let you know what products would be best for you!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Conscia is the vision of Nicole Brown, a veteran hair stylist who, after two decades in the industry, became acutely aware of the water and plastic waste in hair products. Struggling to find anything eco-friendly and salon-grade, she set out to change the way we think about haircare. Nicole shared her mission with longtime client Victoria Heldt, and a partnership was born. Victoria had developed a passion for environmental sustainability and immediately saw the opportunity in redefining luxury haircare for today’s mindful consumer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The two put their heads together to conceive of “mindful hair care” with a concentration not just on hair but also on scalp and mind. Three years of researching, formulating, testing, and tweaking yielded a collection of clean products made with active botanical ingredients, and without water in the formulations or plastic packaging.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Conscia’s ultimate aim is to offer a premium self-care experience that combines holistic philosophy, social purpose and eco-responsibility, and to build a community united by a more aware way of living.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not local? Watch this page for a fun virtual giveaway with Conscia this coming week!
Mopping been on anyone else's to-do list for longer than they'd care to say? 🙃 These new reusable mop pads are suddenly getting us excited to move this to-do up on the list!
Keep your old Swiffer or other standard size mop sticks, but skip the disposable pads with these reusable alternatives!
This thick and absorbent fabric can be used wet or dry to mop or dust your floors. And we love that Marley's Monsters utilized fabric scraps that would have otherwise gone into the waste steam with this clever solution to one of our cleaning woes.
Head to wayofbeing.co to try them out for yourself and never look back! 💛

Our Mission
At Good Intent, our mission is to offer support and supplies for your low waste lifestyle journey -- your budget, your time constraints, your limitations, and your interests.
So many of us care and want to do more to change our world, but don't know where or how to start. Minimizing harm to our planet should be a universal priority, not a privilege. We can all make a difference through our everyday actions -- on both a personal and global scale -- and we want to help make those actions easier for everyone.
Our goal is to take all of that collective good intent and turn it into real actions that change our world for the better.
