Wise Women Seek Counsel ~ This doula takes great care & pride in staying on the cusp of all things b What is a Doula?

A doula's duty is to provide a continuous source of comfort, encouragement, and support (both emotional and physical) during the entire birth journey...during pre-conception, during pregnancy, during labor and post-partum. Doulas will never push a co-parent aside, and will simply enhance your coach's support — and even help him or her relax, which in turn will help you relax. Doulas are not health

Menstrual Cycling

Phase I: Menstrual Phase (Winter)

Length - Can last anywhere from 1-7 days. Also called the bleed.

Effects on the body - Estrogen levels rise slightly and progesterone levels dip. These changes can leave you feeling low on energy, but also reflective in nature.

Productivity - The best things to focus on during this time are analytical tasks. Solo projects, proofreading, reviewing data, assessments and goal setting.

This is a great time to look inward and listen to your instincts while setting those goals. Because this is the lowest natural energy levels it is best to avoid tight deadlines and only focus on 1-3 important tasks.

Activity - Self love, muscular activation and managing inflammation is the focus.

Performing exercises such as yoga, stretching, light weight training, walking and resting are great to focus on. Beginning and ending your day with meditations around self love can really help during this time.

Nutrition - Focus on foods that add nutrients and restore. Blood replenishing iron and zinc rich foods, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune boosting foods.

- Seed cycling with flax and pumpkin seeds during this time is key.
- High fat foods
- Teas with ginger or red raspberry leaf
- Veggies like beets, kale, mushrooms, spinach
- Fruits like grapes, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and watermelon

Purpose - During this time while you rest and meditate ask yourself what it is you are ready to shift inwardly?

Start or continue your journal and reflect.🌕

Breastfeeding: why babies may bite and how to stop it | Baby & toddler, Feeding articles & support | NCT 11/01/2022

Great Article for anyone feeling the biting of little teeth while latched. If you have more questions schedule some one on one time for more help with this and other postpartum questions and issues.

Tips: how to stop your baby biting during breastfeeding

Some mums find that offering something cold to chew before breastfeeding helps reduce the likelihood of biting.

Keep a finger at the ready so you can break the suction quickly if your baby does try to bite.

If your baby does bite, take them off the breast and offer something else to bite on instead.

When your baby bites, it sometimes helps to try pulling your baby closer so that as your breast covers their nose, they open their mouth.

Your baby might not actually be biting but nipping because of where their teeth are in relation to your ar**la. If that’s the case, think about ways you can position your baby differently so their mouth is in a different place. Feeding in a more reclined position can encourage your baby to latch more deeply. If you’re finding feeding uncomfortable, a laidback breastfeeding position often helps.

Offering plenty of attention during a feed and praise when your baby doesn’t bite might encourage them to breastfeed comfortably.

If you carefully watch what your baby is doing, you might be able to notice behaviour that leads to biting or the feed coming to an end. That way, you can recognise when to take your baby off before they bite.

Shouting can be a natural reaction to pain when a baby bites. But it’s best to avoid shouting deliberately in case this encourages your baby to bite for the reaction or leads to breast refusal.

Pros and Cons of Freezing Eggs Vs Embryos 10/29/2022

Let’s have some real talk as my doctor once told me. Freezing eggs is a great idea when you are 20 something.

However, once your eggs graduate to the mature club embryo freezing is the more attainable goal. This is because our chances of conception drop with each decade and freezing eggs after 29 may really be a great way to waste money but always have this real talk with your fertility doctor before making your final decision.

A fertility doula like this one will also help support and research your choices so get one of those too while on your journey 😉

This is something to be aware of. Racial disparities are all through out the healthcare system even for more affluent women so please don’t think this could never be your story. Please don’t go it alone take your doula or your emotional support person to your visits your life may depend on that second brain 🤗

Black infants born after fertility treatments at significantly higher risk of death than White infants, study suggests | CNN It has been well-known in research that Black babies are about twice as likely to die as White babies before their first birthday. Now, a new study suggests that that disparity is even larger when babies are conceived by in vitro fertilization or other forms of assisted reproductive technology.
