This year we are beyond thankful for our friends, and family, as well as our Autauga county residents. We wish each of you a very wonderful holiday spent with family and friends. In the spirit of Thanksgiving we want to share our office hours for this week.
Our office will open at 7:30 am and close at 2:30 pm on Wednesday. We will be closed all day on Thursday and Friday.
As we take this time to celebrate with our loved ones, we appreciate your understanding of our shortened hours.
If you need assistance from our office during those times, please visit our website at https://autauga.capturecama.com. If you need to leave a payment please place it in the Dropbox in front of the revenue building.
Be weather aware tonight as we have the potential for some severe weather during the overnight hours. The timing suggests that between 2AM and 8AM we can expect strong damaging winds and the possibility of tornadoes. Autauga County EMA will continue to pay close attention to this storm throughout the night.
Update: Intersection is open
Update 4:33: Spire has updated the city that the roads will reopen at 8:00 p.m.

DID YOU PURCHASE OR SELL YOUR HOME AND/OR LAND AFTER OCT 1st, 2022????
If so, the 2023 courtesy notices will be mailed to the owner as of October 1, 2022, unless you contacted our office and asked for the notice to be mailed c/o the new owner!! The reason is, by law in Alabama, we tax "a year behind".
When you purchase/sell property, real or personal, please make sure there is an agreement made between buyer and seller for the upcoming property taxes.
Also, if you have recently MOVED and did not change your address with our office, please call (334) 358-6750 ext 1 to make sure we have your correct mailing address for property tax notices, etc. Each year our office receives large stacks of returned mail and sometimes the postal service does not have a forwarding address for the property owner. We want to insure you receive all your notices, so please make sure your address is updated in our office!!!!
Thank you!
Over 65 Homestead Exemption
Property owners who turn 65 before October 1, 2023 and own a single-family residence and occupy it as their primary residence can apply for a homestead exemption for Over 65 beginning October 1st, for the 2024 Tax Year. There are three types of homestead exemptions for Over 65.
• H-2 - Is for taxpayers age 65 and older with an annual combined adjusted gross income of $12,000.00 or less as reflected on their most recent State Income Tax Return. This exemption is for all State taxes and County taxes up to $5,000.00 in assessed value.
• H-3 – Is an exemption from all ad valorem taxes for taxpayers age 65 and older who have a net taxable income of $12,000 or less on the most recent combined (taxpayer and spouse) Federal Income Tax Return.
• H-4 – Is for taxpayers age 65 and over with combined net taxable income greater than $12,000.00 on their most recent Federal Income Tax Return. This exemption is for the State portion of the ad valorem taxes and $2,000.00 of the assessed value on County taxes.
Exemptions should be applied for before December 31 of each year based upon status (owner occupied, age 65 or totally and permanently disabled) of property and owner on October 1. Once you receive an exemption for disability or age, you must claim this exemption each year. H-4 taxpayers do not have to re-sign unless income changes and would be eligible to qualify for one of the other homestead exemptions.
****Property owners who are receiving a homestead exemption because of total disability or who are over 65 with income limitations remember to either sign and return the Affidavit to Claim Ad Valorem Exemption, which will mailed to you in the next week, or come in and re-sign by December 31, 2023.
