When I fell 40’ from a cliff in Southern Illinois the life of my friends changed forever. That was never more true than for my friend Michael.

Michael was behind me when I disappeared from his sight. For years, Michael was haunted by the fact that he couldn’t save me from the fall nor sway me from my chosen route.

In 1990, eight years post fall, Michael and I returned to the scene of the crime. In this video, Michael and I walk through the day that altered our lives. It was a healing experience, stepping back in order to move forward- to walk out of the canyon under my own power.

In celebration of 40 years of mobility, following my fall in 1982 that left me paralyzed, for the month of October I will be releasing videos. I’ll be returning to Southern Illinois where I fell to be with my good friends as well as revisiting my cliff & the rock that crushed my spine. It’s been a healing experience in the past.
