This week, The Fund for New Jersey’s President, Brandon J. McKoy, participated in a robust discussion entitled New Jersey’s Place in Black America: A Black History Month Dialogue. Organized by grantee partner New Jersey Institute for Social Justice (NJISJ) in collaboration with the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs(SPIA), and the Department of African American Studies, Princeton University, panelists included . -Nia Henderson, Dean of Rutgers Graduate School-Newark, P. Haywood, President & CEO of NJISJ, Christina Swarns, Executive Director of the Innocence Projectoject, and Dr. Keith A. Wailoo, Professor of History and Public Affairs at Princeton University. The panel was kicked off by an introduction from The Fund’s Board Chair, Richard Roper.
Panelists’ remarks highlighted the importance of creating a more transparent and accountable state budget process, addressing health inequities in maternal care to***co regulation, eliminating the racial wealth gap, and overhauling the criminal justice system. Panelists agreed—strong collaboration across policy sectors is imperative to achieve racial justice and eradicate systemic racism.
