Sundance-winning Ukrainian filmmaker Iryna Tsilyk is coming to Rhode Island College for two extraordinary screening events! On Friday, 22 March, at 7:00 PM in Gaige 100, she'll screen and discuss "The Earth Is Blue as an Orange" (2020), along with excerpts from "Invisible Battalion" (2017). On Saturday, 23 March, at 4:30 PM in Gaige 100, she'll screen and discuss "Rock.Paper.Grenade" (2022). These screenings are free and open to the public. Hope to see you there!

Back in the 1970s, David Bordwell wrote the first external review for RIC's Film Studies Program. It was in part due to his report/advocacy that the college continued to support this program.

RIC Film Studies and Open Books, Open Minds present an original, 3-part web series, Disappearing Act. The series was inspired by the themes of loneliness and seeking connection explored in this year's common book, Seek You, and it was developed by students in FILM 355: Transmedia Storytelling. The series tells the story of three college students, Alex, Charlie, and Jessie, who become involved in the search for a missing classmate, each for their own reasons. Episode 1 premieres on the RIC Film Studies YouTube channel on November 29, 2023. Episode 2 premieres on December 6th, and Episode 3 premieres on December 13. Here's the trailer:
