TODAY!!! As part of Homelessness & Hunger Awareness Week learn about national programs and RIC's L4L Food for Thought food pantry. Tuesday, 11/15 from 11am to 1pm in Donovan Dining Hall.

DID YOU KNOW!? RIC has a food pantry that serves all RIC students who are food and/or housing insecure, and struggle to make ends meet. The pantry is located in L4L, Adams Library Level 1. All you need is your student ID card. The pantry is committed to protecting your privacy if you visit or contact them for resources. Learn more on their website, where you can also fill out a request form: https://www.ric.edu/department-directory/learning-life/food-4-thought-pantry

The Food 4 Thought Pantry was created in 2016 by L4L to help the college combat food insecurity among our students. According to a first-of-its-kind survey released in April 2018 by Temple University and Wisconsin HOPE Lab researchers, more than 1/3 of college students surveyed nationally do not get enough to eat.

TONIGHT!!! Gun Violence Prevention: Listen to Our Plans for Change Panel on Gun Violence Prevention/Performances by RIC Concert Chorus/Fundraiser for Miya's Voice

Monday, November 14, 2022
5:30pm – 8:30pm
Rhode Island College Sapinsley Hall
RSVP: https://ListenToOurPlansForChange.eventbrite.com
American Democracy Project @ RIC (ADP) & RIC Civic Engagement

Finding solutions to gun violence will require a multifaceted approach that includes preventative work, research, legislation, community-level interventions, and law enforcement. As a college community, we understand that these conversations can be emotion-laden and complex but can also help to build consensus. In this spirit, the American Democracy Project at Rhode Island College and RIC Civic Engagement have joined together to sponsor a series of forums dedicated to a greater understanding of the root causes of gun violence and designed to provide opportunities for exploring sensible solutions.

Who is invited?
Young people from across the state, our teachers, community organizers, movement participants, officeholders, members of the law enforcement community, gun violence survivors, members of the faith community, and everyone interested in engaging with others on the topic.

What, Where, and When?
We invite you to Sapinsley Hall on the Rhode Island College campus on November 14th. The evening’s events will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include an opening reception for informal conversation, an engaging panel discussion, a very special choral performance, and a fundraiser for Miya’s Voice, a scholarship fund in remembrance of Miya Brophy-Baermann and dedicated to elevating the voices of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

This event is free and open to the public. While walk-ins will be welcomed, we would appreciate registration in advance. Please use this link to register: https://ListenToOurPlansForChange.eventbrite.com
