APEX Accelerator needs your support
The House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee has proposed to cut funding for the APEX Accelerator program by nearly 60% in the FY2025 Defense Appropriations Bill. On June 13th, the Full House Appropriations Committee debated and passed the FY25 defense funding bill on a party-line vote of 34-25. This bill now goes to the House floor for debate later this month or in July. The Senate Appropriations Committee will be debating and passing its version of the FY2025 Defense Appropriations Bill in July.
If we have assisted you in any way, we are hoping that you would consider reaching out to your Congressional Office to let them know of the proposed cut and the negative impact on your business and others in Washington. This would be devastating for so many and would severely impact our work to bring new, innovative businesses into the defense industrial base.

MBDA Court Decision Listening Session - Online
May 09, 2024, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT
On March 5, 2024, a Texas federal judge issued a ruling about the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), the sole federal agency dedicated to the growth and global competitiveness of minority business enterprises. This ruling states that the MBDA may not presume social disadvantage based upon race without sufficient evidence of discrimination. Therefore, the MBDA can no longer limit programming to minorities the agency presumes to be disadvantaged.
The Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE) and Washington State Department of Transportation Office of Equity and Civil Rights (WSDOT) are hosting this joint listening session to hear concerns and answer questions from the diverse business community.
This court case is similar to a previous July 2023 ruling in Tennessee, which focused on the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development program and the racial presumption of disadvantage. Both cases took place after the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2023 ruling impacting affirmative action programs in college admissions.
