offering hope and help to all individuals affected by mental illness

Back in March, Carthage College students at Zeta Tau Sigma created and ran their own fundraiser called "Kiss the Stigma Goodbye" at Kissing Rock to help support people in our community impacted by mental illness. They raised $87 selling chocolates and lollipops!

"Mental health has always been important to me. When I found out my sorority was mental health based, I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to support NAMI Racine County and my community while also breaking the stigma around mental illness."

Thank you, ladies! You are great examples of how to champion causes you care about and make a difference locally!

What to Expect 07/04/2024

The 4th of July, like a lot of holidays, can bring a lot of additional pressure to some of us living with mental illness and tension to some families.

For peers, the internal and external expectations to celebrate and join in family gatherings and social events is only compounded by opportunities to participate in activities not in alignment with our treatment plans.

For family members, we can see our loved ones making choices or behaving in ways we don’t agree with.

If you’re feeling exhausted keeping up appearances, frustrated with the day, or triggered by activities, . It’s okay to take a moment for yourself, to create boundaries, and to reach out.

Familiarize yourself with the process so when you call 988, you’ll know how it works. You don’t need to be suicidal to use it. And it’s got great resources for family members!

What to Expect Using 988 is free. When you call, text, or chat 988, your conversation is confidential. 988 provides you judgment-free care. Talking with someone can help save your life.

07/04/2024

Happy 4th of July! Our small and mighty team of firecrackers wish you a happy and safe Independence Day!

07/02/2024

In alignment with NAMI's "Rest Up Week", NAMI Racine County will be closed July 2nd through July 5th to allow our staff paid time off to focus on self-care. Read about the National organization's movement: https://www.nami.org/press-releases/nami-champions-workplace-mental-health-with-fourth-annual-rest-up-week/

We will reopen on July 8th.

If you are in need of support, please call or text the NAMI helpline or 988.

Did you know: Mental health providers are routinely paid less by insurance than other health care providers? That means fewer providers take insurance — making in-network mental health care harder to find.
