Cats are so laidback that people often think they are low-maintenance and don't need to go to the vet as often as dogs. In honor of National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day, we want to remind you of the top reasons our feline friends need regular exams, too!
If your cat is due for a visit, or if you have noticed any changes in their health or behavior, contact us today to book a visit. We want to keep them purring!

Milo says "I'm here and checking in for my appointment and would love a few treats, got any?" We sure do and shared several with him. We love when our patients want to say hi to the Client Care team and be part of the check-in process.
Meet Gonzo, an adorable Silken Windhound. What is a Silken Windhound you ask? Well we asked the same thing as most of us met this breed for the first time for his first pediatric wellness visit with. And we were so happy to meet this little guy, who was as sweet as could be!
A few facts: The Silken Windhound is an American breed of sighthound, a type of hound dog that hunts primarily by sight and speed. Silken Windhounds were founded and developed in Austin Texas, by a successful breeder of show and performance American Kennel Club Borzoi and Deerhounds, using her favored Borzoi and Lurcher bloodlines. And, the first Silken Windhound litter was born in 1985.
Silken Windhounds are affectionate and playful, and are good dogs for families with children. Due to their friendliness, they are not good guard dogs but are easily housebroken and can be trained to live with smaller household pets. Silkens particularly like agility, therapy, flyball, and obedience.
Silken Windhounds are intelligent and easily trained using rewards and affection in short, positive sessions. They will work eagerly and form strong relationships with their owners if treated well.

Our very own Dr. Buyrn recently went to Africa and had an amazing volunteer experience. She wanted to share a few highlights from her trip...wow, just wow! So proud of her.
"I recently had the amazing opportunity to work with and learn about conservation medicine with Loop Abroad and Wildscapes Veterinary Services and Conservation in Hoedspruit, South Africa. They are doing crucial work dehorning/trimming the horns on rhino’s to prevent aims to poach them for their horns. Their horns can range up to $65-100,000 per kg on the black market for traditional medicine uses and outdated practices that don’t have any evidence proving their benefits. Trimming their horns is a non-painful process that can save their lives. It has no lasting negative effects on them and has had very promising results increasing their numbers in the past 5 years since they started. They were given injectable anesthesia darted from a helicopter and kept in a light plane while we carefully monitored them. They were up and waddling away within 2-3 minutes after we were finished. It was very humbling to work with and see these gentle giants.
We also placed a tracking collar on a mama elephant to help study and monitor their herd. She was up and with her baby within minutes of us working with her.
We placed another tracking collar on a South African Wild Dog that is one of two males taking care of a pack of orphaned pups after the mom was killed by a hyena or lion. They will study their pack to see how the pups do with their 2 brothers taking care of them and hopefully will see them thrive.
We darted and obtained blood samples from 3 African Buffalo bulls. We tested them for Foot and Mouth Disease, Tuberculosis, and a few other endemic contagious diseases in cattle to monitor surveillance of the transmission of those diseases in that area and hopefully protect the herd. They were quite large and rambunctious. It was nice to work with them while they were asleep and snoring :) The anesthetic protocol worked great and they were running with the herd in no time. -- Dr. Buryn"
It's Relaxation Day and we wanted to share one of our gorgeous new patients, Dahlia Rose Berry! She is a 3 year old Ragdoll and she decided the best place for her to relax for her wellness appointment was in the sink! We always want our patients to be comfortable and relaxed! Does your pet have a place favorite place to relax?
August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month, and we know that treating skin allergies is not one-size-fits-all. Treatment depends on the underlying cause, such as allergies, parasites, bacterial or fungal infections.
If you notice your pet excessively scratching, licking, biting or scooting, contact us so we can determine the cause and treatment plan – then give them a little scratch of love behind the ear! 😊
Eeekkk...have you ever seen anything cuter than a Margot in jammies, with dinosaurs on them? We could not get enough of this cute girl, here for her first pediatric visit with us! Her owner shared that her daughter loves to dress her up, so we look forward to more fun pictures. Sooo stinkin' cute!
Where are all our large dog breed and Great Dane lovers? We 💗💗 our gorgeous Great Dane patients. Meet Koko (Fawn), our newest patient at 10 weeks old and growing fast and sweet as ever. Ignatius was a little nervous and scared for his surgical procedure and he thought it was best for him to hang out (hide) in the office with Rebecca, our Hospital Operations Manager, for extra support and encouragement! He received that and lots of pets too, but was sad for no treats as he was scheduled for surgery :(. Iggy was a trooper and did great for his orthopedic procedure and is doing well at home and on the mend! Heal well little man! And thanks to Rebecca for all the TLC!

Did you know that over 50% of cats do not regularly visit the vet? Our cats are so good at playing it cool, that we sometimes assume all is well and there is not a need to bring them in for a routine wellness exam. But in fact, just like us, cats need regular check-ups to keep them healthy or address any issues they we may not see. So call us today or book your appointment online! We look forward to seeing you soon.
Freddie said don't mind me....just helping myself to a few treats while my mom and the doc chat. Have a Happy Monday and a great week!

Look how cute Matthew is in his surgical recovery suit? We recommend these suits for most of our patients after a surgical procedure and patients are so much happier in these than those big hard plastic cones! And definitely much easier on owners legs. He was a great patient and is doing well and of course got all the love and hugs and snuggles pre and post surgery.

Meet Thor, the happiest puppy who loves everyone he meets. Thor has been in for two pediatric wellness exams and was the best boy. During his first appointment, he decided to lay down, roll over for some belly rubs and then crawled in Dr. Buyrn's lap. And he did all those same things for the second visit, plus enjoyed some whipped cream and really enjoyed it! And couldn't decide which pictures were the best, so sharing all...he is soo goofy and happy and we just love when he comes to see us.
So many more perks than these, but thought this was cute to start your week!
