"My biggest achievement has been creating, piloting and facilitating a sustainable college-wide two-part module series surrounding topics of identity, intersectionality, equity, and inclusion practices within my assistantship. I have presented it to six total courses in the college thus far, and have created a sustainability plan for future facilitators."

04/28/2022

"There were times when I had my assistantship, internship, and part time jobs dance teaching and event coordinating all while being a full-time student. I am very proud of how I was able to organize my time to fit it all in. 04/27/2022

Hannah wanted to give a special shout-out to program faculty Dr. Krispin Barr:

"When times were hard, you always knew that she was there for you. This program would not have been the same without her constant support and encouragement. Because of her, I feel confident and ready to start my career in Higher Education, and I will aspire every day to be a support system for someone else the way that she is for our program."

04/26/2022

Our next graduating student spotlight is on Juliana Bohland! Juliana is about to begin a full-time role as Assistant Director of Gift Planning for The University of Connecticut Foundation. Congratulations, Juliana!

In October of 2021, Juliana wrote an opinion piece for Inside Higher Ed. On the experience, Juliana said:

"I don't typically feel comfortable celebrating my work or myself in general, but this was a moment where I felt really proud of the hard work I had produced. It was such a personal and vulnerable piece that shared a lot of my experiences being an Asian-American woman in the field of university advancement, and it was so validating to have people reach out to me saying the piece resonated with them and let me know I was not alone in my experiences. This publication actually led me to be discovered, recruited, and hired by UConn in the fall semester of 2021 and I am eternally grateful."

04/25/2022

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be shining the spotlight on some of our graduating students!

First up is DeVanté Thomas-Pittman, who specializes in Fraternity & Sorority Life.

"When selecting a program, it isn't just about the faculty or assistantship offerings. It was my peers in my cohort, and the cohort before us, that made this experience as cherished as it is. If I had to do it all over again, I would hope to do it with the friends/family that I made through the program."

Congratulations, DeVanté!
