The Agency started the Preservation Loan Program (PLP) in 2004 to update old rental developments and keep them affordable.
It preserved 1,400 rental units worth $23 million before merging in 2010 with the Rental Production Program. This program now works with tax credits for rehabilitation projects under the Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP). https://ow.ly/stO650SSWs2

The New Homes Program, which helped low-income home buyers with down payments, became the New Home Loan Pool (NHLP) from 2003 to 2012.
Participating organizations received small grants to build new homes and could access more funds if they finished early.
This efficient funding strategy used more funds each year, resulting in $154.6 million in new homes for nearly 1,300 first-time buyers. These programs later combined to form the Community Partners Loan Pool (CPLP). https://ow.ly/ztVN50SNGAi

The NC Recovery Housing Program (RHP) has a second round of funding available to support individuals in recovery from substance use disorders with stable, transitional housing while on a path to self-sufficiency. Applications open on August 1, 2024.

In 2003, The Agency deployed the Individual Development Account Loan Pool, which financed subordinate mortgages for down payment assistance to supplement the savings of individuals who were involved in the IDA savings programs funded by federal government and the NC Department of Labor.
