Why North Carolina needs classical education If individuals are to find real and abiding happiness, we have to go back to our roots — the books, ideas, concepts of the Western tradition. In short, the tree must be re-rooted if it is to bear fruit again.

Thales Academy Knightdale experienced a scare last month when second grade teacher, Mrs. Tania Blue, went into cardiac arrest shortly after beginning the school day. ABC11 WTVD recounts the story in the link below.
We would like to recognize Wanda Evans, Administrator; Jackie Hambright, Assistant Administrator; and Sharon Berger, Senior Administrative Assistant; for their immediate rescue response that included ushering the students out of the room, contacting EMS, and administrating resuscitation and care. The EMS team informed us that these colleagues saved Mrs. Blue's life. We also are grateful to the students who alerted our staff members to the crisis and to the community members who stepped in to assist.
There is no greater service than saving a life. Thales Academy has a profound respect for every individual and every life, and we are proud of the commitment, service, and excellent instincts of these Thales Academy team members. Thank you to all involved that day—we are deeply grateful for the positive outcome of one of our beloved teachers!

Thales Academy's exciting 2023 Yass Prize journey continued this past week with the in-person Accelerator week in Miami. Dr. Joshua Herring attended to represent Thales Academy and delivered a live pitch to a panel of judges as part of this round of the competition. He enjoyed meeting lots of fellow innovative educators and supporters throughout the week.
Upon his return, he reflected: "I came to Miami excited about my school, and I left hopeful that we will advance in the contest. Notably, however, I also left encouraged. Thales Academy is doing incredible work to renew American education, and we are not alone in that endeavor. There are other schools and educational organizations trying different, innovative ways to help children thrive and prepare for their future. In a political season where there often seems to be no good news, I found this experience rejuvenating. We recognize that American education is in a crisis, and there are lots of different people trying to provide answers. We here at Thales Academy have a great answer."
Thanks, Dr. Herring for representing Thales Academy this week, and cheers to the Yass Prize hosts, guests, and other competitors for the great event in Miami celebrating innovation in education!
At Thales Academy, Gratitude is #14 of our Top 15 Outcomes of a Thales Academy Student, and we teach our students to acknowledge the gifts one has been given and the contributions of others all year, not just around Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving!
