Robes for Reading! EXCITING NEWS! Wakefield Elementary was nominated and won a special social media contest from Minky Couture! They generously donated a beautiful bathrobe to every single student in our school! To celebrate, we will be having a special Pajama Day on Monday, October 28. We will be distributing the robes to the classes this Friday. Students will be given their robes on Monday morning and each classroom will have a mystery reader come to their class to read. Students will take their robes home with them on Monday afternoon.

🥳 We are at 167 PTA members and our goal is 180! Only 13+ more members needed to blow our goal out of the water! PTA members are not limited to parents and teachers. You can share with friends, family and the community to support WES! Join the PTA before Oct 31 to help your student’s class! 🍨

Wakefield families- be aware this starts tomorrow, Friday! For our families that walk please be extra careful as there will be a lot more vehicle traffic on Wakefield Pines! Talk to your children about crossing at the stoplight or with a crossing guard for extra safety! Drivers you may need to give yourself extra time due to the increase in volume this route will be seeing and please be an example by following posted speed limits during school hours especially.

We will begin essential bridge repair work on Falls of Neuse Road starting this Friday, October 25. The repairs aim to enhance the rideability of the bridge approaches in both northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) lanes.

Northbound Lane Closure
The first phase will involve closing the northbound lanes from the intersection at Old Falls of Neuse Road to Wakefield Pines Drive. This closure is expected to last approximately 4 weeks.

Southbound Lane Closure
Following the completion of the northbound work, the closure will shift to the southbound side, starting at Wakefield Pines Drive and extending through the intersection with Old Falls of Neuse Road. This southbound closure will also be in effect for around 4 weeks, with access maintained for “Thru Traffic Only” south of the intersection.

Detour Information
A signed detour route will be established during both phases of work to guide drivers safely around the closures.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we undertake these necessary improvements. Please plan your travel accordingly and drive safely in the construction zones. |

So many students signing along with Bryan, dancing and starting off their day with a smile! 😃 Thank you for coming to Wakefield. We hope you felt welcome and at home! GREAT job showing up today WES students, faculty and families! WES has THE BEST 😄✨💗🎤🎵🦅

NCPTA members can get their discounted tickets for the 2024 North Carolina State Fair with adult admission tickets for $10 and youth tickets for $6. To get your tickets, you must
—Be a 2024-2025 paid member of a PTA in NC; your membership must have been entered by your PTA into Givebacks to include your email address
—Sign in to the NCPTA website (ncpta.org) using the email address entered for you in Givebacks. Your first time logging in you will need to hit “forgot my password” and use the email address associated with your Givebacks account to reset your password.

Thank you so much to all of our amazing volunteers at Field Day - we couldn't run such successful events without your help. Thank you as well to Mr. Hill - as always he ran a fun filled day that everyone loved❤️

Another note - Mr. Hill is missing two of his folding chairs . One was a Duke chair and one was a Goliath chair. They were under his ECU tent, but when it was clean up time they were gone. With lots of help from our friends at Wakefield High School we made Scarecrows in Agriculture Club this morning! We used recycled materials and greenery from our school garden. It was boys vs. girls and a fierce competition. Happy Fall y’all! 🍂🍃
